Allowed way more yards than we should've. Lots of ball carriers caught in traffic but the defense not actually tackling them.

I thought it was mostly the 2's that had trouble tackling. Once we got up 37-7, you generally did not see the starting line or LB's play, and the tackling of their backups definitely dropped off.

I think that was some of it. It goes back to something Roof said last week about the young guys staying in their lanes and not trying to be the star every play. I think a lot of the rushing yards in the 2nd half were caused by people not staying in their lanes, then having to try and reach tackle to stop the runner.

Playing dozens of substitutes. This builds depth, this makes practice more meaningful, and this certainly raises the overall morale and focus of the team. Third teamers know: "I might play this week. I might play on the field where Rockne coached the Four Horsemen, where Hornung, Montana, Theismann, and Johnny Lujack played. I need to be ready."

Our starters missed some tackles. Early in the game we had missed tackles (by 41 and 42 where we did not wrap up) on plays that would have been big losses. 12 missed a tackle behind the LOS. 8 missed two in space one on one. There were several missed tackles in the line play in traffic, not as obvious as those missed in space. I agree that our subs were more out of position and reaching sometimes. On balance though not too bad and our tackling this time last year was much worse, especially in the secondary.

yep, hard to complain overall but-- their 2nd unit TB,I think, made us look bad several times--even Freeman had a tackle broken in backfield
Step Durham missed twice, #20 whiffed badly
"being in the area and touching" is not going to get it done vs ND
