Maybe I'm naive but I'm just dubious that there are businesses who want to invest marketing dollars into all but 5-10 guys in any program. Who would pay the 3rd wideout or slot corner if I can pay the qb or star defensive player that same money? Giving money to anyone outside of the elite players might help the school with recruiting but certainly isn't an effective use of business funds.
What about a kicker for a G5 program? No way he can make money right?

He was kicked out of NCAA competition because he had the audacity to make a little (very little) money on social media. Now he is still using the same social media and is making over $1 million per year. He never was a major player. He was not in a major program. He has no connection currently to the NCAA. Even with all of that he is making more than the vast majority of people on this forum. It isn't all about bagmen paying top recruits. There are legitimately un-touted NCAA athletes who can make their own brand and make money from it.

Our biggest take away is that there are going to be a lot of SA's who are going to find out from the invisibile hand of the market that they are NOT as commercially valuable as they would think.

This is exactly what I am thinking. There is going to be a gold rush early on, but the market is going to sort things out at some point. And as with an actual gold rush, only a few will end up doing well. The Hand will come down hard on the rest.

There will be a limited number of players (all sports) that will make some significant money, but I think this will be a way for boosters to slip the players some cash, like they used to do at parties.

I am very convinced this will be abused by unscrupulous people, including coaches, boosters, and the like.

I think it was 2003 - 2005ish when the parents of some players were making TShirts and selling them at games and the proceeds went to buy food on the road and team supporting expenses. Until they were told they couldn't do that anymore... Those were team designed and oriented shirts with GT labels and I purchased those and knew my money was going to benefit the whole team. It's highly unlikely I'm going to purchase a shirt for an individual player.

I wonder what the situation is going to be with jersey sales. If there's no name, does a jersey number indicate enough to prove it was for a specific player? What if we sell a#1 jersey - is that Juanyeh or Jahmyr ? Would a star player sue an apparel company to try and get a cut?
Should apparel companies ask programs to reserve an unworn number for them?

How much you want to bet that the text in that was scripted and sent to Juanyeh? Good for these guys to get theirs. Let's hope these kids can juggle one more thing.
Almost certainly it was.
And - "Go Puff" and then we'll deliver snacks to you? that's hilarious!

This is completely fine with me (besides the NCAA forcing him out). If an athlete can build a brand and fanbase that wants to see his content/buy his merch, that's excellent for anyone, especially a college student. I think it's different when the bag men will basically be bidding on recruits in the open moving forward.

If the schools do not receive benefit from any of this, what is the incentive for them allowing their name to be used for this? Do some of the schools decide to drop out of the sports business?

Recruiting. “We allow you to pimp yourself out on our uniforms here at Texas and you can make X amount of money doing that, where Boomer Sooner won’t let you do that if you go to Norman, son”

Sump like that.

Bag men have and will awlays exist. This doesn’t take them away, just makes them less of a factor.
Oh, you are so wrong. Bagmen will have a field day. Keep in mind it won’t be the bagmen we’ve all grown to love handing out $100 bills or meeting with Kirby‘s runner in a Applebee’s parking lot in Cairo or Bainbridge. Oh no. The bagmen of the future will be way more sophisticated. With the NCAA losing all enforcement power it’s a new era. We’ve already seen Oregon flipping big time recruits. The factories are gonna be a changin!

Typical Tech fan approach, the world is out to get us and we will never be able to compete because of X, Y and Z. This rule helps Tech so much, the guys who are gonna get paid hundreds of thousands were already getting paid hundreds of thousands. Now we have a small chance but a chance to put our name into the mix where as before, no chance. This rule helps so much for Tech keeping the local 4 star type of recruits in Atlanta because of the marketing opportunities.

Dude, I agree with you. I’ve never even hinted the world is out to get GT. If anything I’ve been wanting GT bagmen for years. Hopefully in this new system GT will have some wealthy guys step up. All I said is that the old system and the factories that system created will change. I can see schools like Oregon, Stanford, USC, UCLA, and others we can’t even fathom right now will pop up. Hopefully, GT can take advantage. There are a lot of deep pockets out there in places not located in Tuscaloosa, Clemson, Tallahassee, etc. I’m talking big money not bagman money.

Keep in mind its not necessarily about if a guy is a starter or all American, its about how many followers or likes they get. If the 3rd string qb has 1 million followers because he's funny and the starter only has 20,000 because he's a introvert, guess who's getting paid more.
