He has played in 2 games so he can play in the last 2 and keep his redshirt option. I hope to see him next Thursday night. Is Trelain Maddox out for the year? I remember the coaches were excited about him and he played some early but haven't heard anything since. Had some nice runs when he did play.
Yeah I was thrilled they were running as well. I think even if they’d stuck with it we would’ve hung on. It would take away time from them and I think it would increase the number of third and fourth down plays they would’ve had to try to convert. They weren’t exactly getting stuffed, but they weren’t breaking anything big. You’re right about the bold, but it’s funny because I spent the entire first half thrilled that Miami was working so hard to (unsuccessfully) establish the run. I was nervous for when they’d unleash Ward to sling it everywhere.
First drive of the third quarter they marched right down the field on ALL runs. That drive pretty much equaled their entire first half rushing yardage. Drive ended on an incompletion (the only throw of the drive) on 4th and 1… hmmm.
After that, they ran the ball TWICE the rest of the game.
The second drive of the third quarter was a Cam Ward passing clinic and I think that drive along with the previous empty trip caused them to go all in for the passing game.
We can only defend what they run at us, and I chose to believe that we had guys ready to come downhill in run support if they did it. Maybe Santucci saw a tendency and knew they’d abandon the run late? If so, even more kudos warranted.
Yup… you and @Bogey are on to something. It’s still a team game and that’s the hazard of following an individual performance all over the field for the purpose of evaluation.I question these numbers. I thought the DL played very well last Saturday. Not sure what they're looking at.
Here are their numbers from Saturday. They are not overwhelming in themselves. However, what these don't show is pressures and how they occupied OL so the LB/DB could make plays. van den Berg had no stats, yet he recovered the decisive fumble and was a key part of hemming in Ward on that play.
Height: 2 tackles/ 2 solo/ 1 sack/ 1 TFL/
Harris: 1/ 1/ 0/ 0
Gore: 1/ 0/ .5/ .5
Yondjouen: 1/ 0/ 0/ 0
Scott: 1/ 0/ 0/ 0/
Robinson: 1/ 0/ 0/ 0
Biggers: 1/ 0/ 0/ 0
Love to hear that there was a scheme to contain given how many times we’ve seen scrambles kill us in the past.Agree. Key said in his post game that the DL played a lot of containment on Ward with the LB's making most of the tackles. Evidently the DL ratings were mainly based on numbers and not how well they executed the scheme. I would like to see the ratings from our coaching staff.
On TV, the bigger issue looked like the stands to the left (north) of the Club - there was a ton of orange there. This was about 30 mins before kickoff - there were many, many more.
Honestly, I think we're going to do whatever it takes to win. You never know what is going to happen in the next few years with injuries or performance, so we should be riding whatever horse can get us the victory. If that mean Philo burns a RS, then so be it.I understand we need to win now, but do we burn Philo's redshirt by playing him in both of the last two games. I believe he has played in three to date with four being the limit on keeping the shirt. I say play him against NCST, but sit again UGAg.
PFF rating system at the NFL level
100 to 90 is elite (their word, not mine)
89 to 85 as a pro bowler
84 to 70 is a starter
69 to 60 is a backup
59 down to zero is replaceable
Offense
2. LT Corey Robinson- 82.9 (32)
8. OL Harrison Moore- 72.4 (17)
9. RT Jordan Williams- 70.4 (64)
12. RG Keylan Rutledge- 63.9 (64)
17. LG Joe Fusile- 60.6 (46)
20. C Weston Franklin- 58.2 (64)
Defense
4. DT Thomas Gore- 69.4 (33)
6. DE Sylvain Yondjouen- 66.4 (33)
9. DT Zeek Biggers- 63.4 (37)
10. DT Jordan van den Berg- 60,9 (32)
12. DE Romello Height- 58.5 (41)
14. DT Makius Scott- 51.7 (26)
Overall, the OL played a good game. Fusile played his best game in a while, but still below par as a metrics game. It looks very much like the interior is where we need our strongest upgrade. If the tackle recruits start early, it's bc they are true high end players that are better than our current options.
On defense, the metrics don't show a great effort, but they delivered when needed the most. Once again, our interior needs the upgrade, but we are recruiting across the board to improve our front. High end producers have a real chance at playing time if they come to us.
The lines dictate outcomes. I think our future is bright, as we have good QBs in the queue, and good players want to play with good players.
Already waiting for Saturday.
Go Jackets!

Question. When he went out of bounds, it looked to me like the clock kept going. Did I miss something? Is there a new rule about that?
Assuming you're talking about the play I'm thinking about, they snapped the ball with a little over 3:00 left and went out of bounds just under 3:00. The clock only stops in the last 2:00 of each half. I think that was a change for the 2023 season.
All the stars aligned. Big underdog, at home, noon game, 4th game in a row for da U, Homecoming crowd, undefeated opponent riding a long strak of lucky breaks.5) Miami had played four games in a row...they looked tired, a step slower especially on defense. It may or may not have been a factor.
The GT looks much better painted from here vs the UE where it looks fadedThere was a little bit of orange over there, but most was to the right or in the upper deck.

Miami fans do not agree with your last paragraph. All the stars aligned. Big underdog, at home, noon game, 4th game in a row for da U, Homecoming crowd, undefeated opponent riding a long strak of lucky breaks.
Oh, yeah the only thing that didn't pan out was ACC Officials screwing the favorite. You can normally take that to the bank.
BTW, I thought the unis looked sharp.
I was being honest, I liked them. They looked sharp. I prefer GWG but GWB is OK.
I’m mixed. They looked fantastic in close up photos, looking very Danish Modern High Tech. From a distance, down on the field, they are non-discript blah.I was being honest, I liked them. They looked sharp. I prefer GWG but GWB is OK.
