When the Falcons franchise was announced, Paul Brown (!!) expressed interest in becoming a part-owner and the head coach. Rankin Smith, who saw the Falcons as a chance to have some fun, turned him down. To put this another way, Smith turned down the coach who invented modern pro football so that he and his mentally-challenged sons could run the franchise into the ground. I can only imagine how many Super Bowls and championships the Birds would have won if Brown was their coach.

Not giving The Rock a chance to play in the NFL - where he would have done just fine, btw - is right in line with this kind of asinine behavior.
Rock Perdoni was the same size as NFL Hall of Famer Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Larry Little who was 5'11'' 260

Yes. People tend to forget that OLs were a lot smaller in The Rock's day. The great Steelers OL that made Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris stars averaged - hand to God - 6'2", 243. Of course, they were all fast as lightning. Made a difference. Then.

Looks a little greener than regular mustard to me.

Old mustard of the past was closer to Grey Poupon.

The Smith family was a disgrace to Atl .They just "fooled around" with team waiting for the bucks to roll in.I think that they bought the franchise for 6 mil and sold it for 100 +.

Paul Brown should have been hired as Falcons head coach in 1966

The Falcons drafted an unknown running back from NE Louisiana named Joe Profit in the 1st round of the 1971 NFL Draft

The Falcons drafted John Wayne as a joke in the last round. Perdoni was still available. A slap in the face to Tech by the Dawg Smiths.

The Falcons wear red and black because of the Dawg Smiths. I have never pulled for the Falcons and I will not until they change their colors.

I believe it was Rankin's mother's family's insurance business's money from Life of Georgia that he and the sons played around with.

Anyone remember when Life of Georgia was in the building on the corner of North Ave and Spring?

Unfortunately his son, Mike Brown, has been ruining my Cincinnati Bengals for decades.

The franchise was purchased in 1965 for 8.5 million, then sold to Arthur Blank in 2002 for 545 million dollars. It is now worth in excess of 2.5 billion.
