My dad, who served in the Pacific during WWII, had nothing but contempt for McArthur. (He even saw him once come ashore to "visit" the troops)

One of my uncles drove a truck in Patton's army (africa,sisily,italy,france,Ger) and loved Patton, didn't like Ike(or Monty) and thought Bradley was the best of the bunch

Too much emphasis on Civil War and WWII, what about Andrew F'ing Jackson or Winfield Scott or Matthew Ridgeway? Heck, maybe throw in some Schwarzkopf and Mattis to bring it up to date. And any list that doesn't have George Marshall on it is bunk.
