Got to keep the safeties in the game

Corey and Gray were moved up to be more effective in the GSU game. GT has some of the fewest 30 yard plays against, but this stat was achieved by taking our safeties out of most of the game. I do not want them moved up all the time, but get them in the game more... Or at least move them up versus 20 yards deep.

Well this is certainly one of the many adjustments on D we can do to be more aggressive. But the dbs are still too tentative.

Imo we need to scrap the roof quarters d and run more mix between thirds, halves, free.

The more I watch... we constantly put ourselves at a disadvantage in the middle by giving so much ground with our safeties. I can understand if we are facing pocket passer types, but the team is outnumbered if we don't use our safeties on plays against non-pocket passers. I need to ask CPJ is it worth it to have our safeties so far back to get the best 30 yard stat.

I don't like the alignments /starting position of the LB on most plays.

It looked to me like those two were our best tacklers by a long shot. How many YACs were amassed when Gray was involved in the tackle? Not too many. Griffin either. We took advantage of a match up that favored us in that way. We won't be able to do it all the time against anybody, but it can be a part of what we do, depending.

Gray is the best tackler on our defense. GSU ran a WR screen on Saturday where Gray just completely blew up his blocker and got a TFL. That's the type of plays I've been expecting from him this season. It would be nice to get that type of play from our linebackers.

Against spread teams, I wouldn't mind seeing gray at LB just to get more athleticism out there. We'd be undersized, but he seems to get off blocks just as well as our starting backers
