The last time I really felt like we had no chance against a conference foe was 2022 at UNC.

So I’ll take a four point GT win - 38-34 Tech.

Miami by three or four touchdowns. I am afraid that this is the game where we discover what a chasm lies between the also rans like Tech which are mediocre at best and the elite factories looking at playoff berths.
You’re aching to get ignored. Why don’t you just take your misery and leave. The absolutely worst kind of fan. Been that way all season long. Your schtick is getting so old.

VT basically beat these guys 41-38. Let that sync in for a second. VTs offense essentially put up 41 points (and was robbed of a TD to win the game). The same offense we forced to punt 10 times. That’s how bad Miami’s defense is. If anyone thinks we have no chance they are crazy. If we want to score 30+ we can. The problem is that I don’t think that’s the way to win. I’m more so thinking we win something like 28-27 or maybe 31-28 by limiting possessions.

Miami's pass defense is their weak link. We can't worry about playing the "shorten the game" strategy. We have not had success playing this way. Open up the offense and we can win. Otherwise, The Canes will beat us by two or more touchdowns.

Our offense healthy is a threat to anyone worn king 100%.
Their defense will need to show up just as much as ours. Expecting a 2023 vs UNC type shootout

To beat Miami. do it the Paul Johnson way. Punch them in the face with 3-4 yds per run and burn up 8-9 minutes per possession. Pass enough to keep them honest. But we have to score TDs, not settle for FG's. And defense has to bend, not break.
Special team coverage scares the bejeebers out of me though. If we don't give up a lightning fast score on a run back, we compete.

Their D is not good, but either is ours. They give up 1 more point per game despite playing much faster than we do.
On an efficiency basis their D ranks slightly better than ours.

Offense though is insane. #2 efficiency offense in the country and they lead the country in the following categories
PPG, total offense, total first downs, 3rd down conversion rate (59%), three and outs (6 in 9 games).
With a healthy Haynes and King we have a very good offense, their offense is just a different level.
Their special teams also rate much more highly then ours.

Given all that, we can still win this game, but GT must have a +2/3 TO margin, must be able to control the clock (that doesn't mean it has to run all the time, you can control the clock through passing as well), and must execute cleanly in all 3 phases.

Assuming we have King and Haynes back I think we keep it close but Miami does what it does and pulls away in the fourth quarter.

I’d like to be wrong, but I think we just don’t keep pace in this game. I’m thinking 45-34, or similar

We don’t play on paper—we play on turf. We have a shot. Let’s just keep slugging

lol miami is not an elite factory
lol they have a Heisman candidate and elite skill position players and good linemen. What they don't have is an factory type defense. But let me ask you. Can any player that Miami wants get into school? That is the very definition of a factory along with year after year of great recruiting classes. So yep, they are a factory just one without a recent national championship.

They're a factory producing inferior widgets.
Don't know about Virginia Tech but I do know there is a chasm between the talent at Miami and our talent.
No question. But on a given day...

Apparently, I am just as qualified as Wilkins and Bacon to write for SI
