Comparing recruiting class rankings to illustrate the differences between open head coaching jobs in the ACC:
Michigan (Bakich): 25
Clemson: 13
Notre Dame (Link): 45
FSU: 10

In addition to getting large pay raises for themselves and their staff, they upgrade their facilities and quality of recruiting classes. Additionally, it’s becoming apparent FSU and Clemson are going all in on Baseball. Bakich is now the Clemson coach and soon Link will be the FSU coach leaving three Power 5 jobs open (Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame).

In most competent organizations, that's how it's done. Not to start a political argument, but it's the reason some folks feel they don't have a shot. The good jobs in good organizations are already determined, the people holding the decision making keys to jobs in bad organizations have already made their bad choices too. It's just their choices get criticized a lot more frequently when the cycle of suck perpetuates. The good organizations get criticized too when their selections go south, they just have the capacity to shift gears more rapidly and appease their fanbases by upping the ante on the next popular pick.
