He is DC for the Bulls. Spent two years with CPJ. Since Elon was pretty much of a cupcake for them , they have had plenty of time to prepare for us , with some knowledge of how it works. Obviously coaches don't play, players have to execute. But does this give them a significant edge. What say you ??

Not IMHO. We could get USFs playbook and it would only help but so much. You might gain some trends, but I don’t think either team should over think that.

The speed at which the dive hits is one of the main things that is hard to replicate.

Okay, fair enough. Would stretching the defense to the outside, at game speed, be even harder to replicate?

At this point, it doesn't matter. There is so much film and so many people with experience with defending it (even if they only defended it once) that a DC has enough information to put together a reasonable game plan along with potential in-game adjustments.

It's not one or the other. They compliment each other. When their D can fly lbs and safeties to the outside, they can shut down our perimeter game for a loss. However, they can then get bit by a dive up the middle.
When they commit to stopping the dive, they become vulnerable on the perimeter.
No. Basically asking athletes to sprint to the boundary.
It's hard to replicate the speed the dive hits, while avoiding blocks (not just cuts), while being aware that the bb may not have the ball, while maintaining your actual responsibilities on the play, while not getting de-cleated while pursuing the qb, while staying back in case he pitches (or does something wonky), then trying to make a play.
Of course, if we don't do our jobs it gets easier for the defense.
On a semi-related note, the bulls boards seem to think Stingtalk is the only place to find Tech fans. They're pretty confident they're gonna roll us. Here's where you can look at them lookin' at us ...

Looked at the Bulls blog referenced above. Shows that they feel about the same about us as we do about them. Are they delusional, or are we ? Guess we will find out soon enough. Got to say that if we get pressure on the QB, with turnovers or hurries, we should take them. This Saturday will give us a good idea of where we are as a team both O and D. If we can't complete some passes, they stack the box and it could be like VT against FSU last night.
If the aliens are monitoring the interwebs to see if humanity is worth saving, I hope to jeebus they haven't stumbled upon ST. If they have, the intergalactic missile is already on the way.

Until Marshall is able to hit enough deep throws to keep the safeties from cheating, we will have this problem. they will cheap up and seal the edge to take away the pitch and we have either dive or keeper. Those throws are part and parcel of Johnson's spread offensive planning.

It will be hard but we can make it tough for anybody. Besides which I think we win. And it looks to me -- yes, I know, on the basis of one game -- that Clemson is heavy favorites in their division and it is going to be GT or VT on this side. FSU and Miami have been exposed, and while VT as usual with Foster strangled an offense, no, they are not that good. Not yet. What it may do is change Clemson's thinking of the ACC championship, because they probably looked at Miami coming back. Have to hand it to Bud Foster, though. Give him the horses and he will build a defense.

Interesting to watch the Charlie Strong presser for our game. Seemed to show pretty good respect for us as an opponent.
I'll say that any time I hear a coach talk about assignment football when it comes to us, its usually a bad sign for that team. We come way too fast with a lot of different looks. I get more worried when they talk about getting off blocks.
I get the feeling were going to get ours on O this week. Our D will determine whether it's a barnburner or an easy victory.
I'm thinking something like 35 or 42 for us and 21-24 for them. Likely a late TD by us to put it away.
