Hell yesBetter to use that money to buy players and coaches.
Go Jackets!
It says in the AJC article that some of the North stands will be removed.Folks need to get off the tear down the North stands kick. It's not going to happen anytime in the near future. Get over it.
They are building 2 new weight roomsThis is cool for the players but IMO won’t effect program/recruiting like they hope. Rather them tear down the upper north and build a better weight room.
We are a dollar late on this. Facilities to entice recruits is past. It's all about NIL now. We are late to the party. I am sure the AA will have nice offices though.

i think some people make statements about things like that under the assumption that we have an unlimited budget and we can just afford to spend money on tearing things down like thatFolks need to get off the tear down the North stands kick. yep,It will be much better for the umpteen associate administrative specialists that have been so effective the last 3 yrs.We are a dollar late on this. Facilities to entice recruits is past. It's all about NIL now. We are late to the party. I am sure the AA will have nice offices though.
That’s the biggest plus to this then IMOA new weight room is included in this new building
Our weight room has to be one of the roughest out there for P5. I feel like my local gym is nicer/at least at the same level as Tech's unfortunately. This is cool for the players but IMO won’t effect program/recruiting like they hope. Rather them tear down the upper north and build a better weight room.

What it sounds like. I didn’t read the article, but seems like everyone is on the same page that we are finally getting a new weight room.I assume this is a weight room in the new building:
"expanded space for Georgia Tech football, featuring a dedicated football-only strength-and-conditioning area"
I thought the new Student/Athlete Center was going to replace the Wardlaw section. It says in the AJC article that some of the North stands will be removed.
Georgia Tech’s Edge Center renovation OK'd by Board of Regents
The renovation was the centerpiece of athletic director Todd Stansbury’s $125 million capital campaign, dubbed “Athletics Initiative 2020.”www.ajc.com

I'd be interested in seeing some quantifiable data before and after this renovation regarding recruiting improvement. This is so far from the truth. Have you been in the Edge center? It is extremely outdated and looks like a scene from the movie Saw could be filmed inside with dreary lighting. This is epicenter for all athletics and the first place they see. Remember, all athletes are not NIL worthy, so this is a vital piece the puzzle
Donors gave money to build this new building, so it doesn't really matter. People who want to see money go to other initiatives should earmark their donations to those.I'd be interested in seeing some quantifiable data before and after this renovation.
I also recall Miami having some of the worst facilities until and possibly including the past few years, yet that didn't really put much if a dent in their recruiting.
Tech will never recruit to the level that CGC told us, as we've discussed many other times. We would be wise to invest this money into areas that can actually help, instead of nice to have things.
Not saying that the current student athletics center is perfect or even adequate, but we have much bigger problems to solve at the moment than this.
Forget it, just re-read article. It will be at the Edge bldg.I thought the new Student/Athlete Center was going to replace the Wardlaw section.
Well obviously. But does that mean the ad couldn't have spent his time fund raising for the AT fund in general instead of this?Donors gave money to build this new building, so it doesn't really matter. People who want to see money go to other initiatives should earmark their donations to those.
