Early Cesspool Plans

Is anyone else planning to go to the cesspool for COFH? I was on the fence but yesterday convinced me.

I’ve been twice before and recall parking being a nightmare. Both times I lived out of state so I needed to drive. Whereas now I’m in Cobb Co. I’m guessing Uber is a decent option? (Doubt it’s cheap but safer than driving/ parking)

Does anyone know if there will be busses from GT? Or something else I haven’t thought of? I ask since I recall a year or two ago, GT offered to bus people over to/from the cesspool (but it was for women’s hoops).

I've been, twice..Last time was 2000..NEVER AGAIN!

Had rocks thrown at us and my truck got keyed (GT stickers must've mad them unhappy😅)..

I worked in Assthens 10 years and I still never went..

Good luck to the team and those going, safe travels!!

I went for the postseason baseball game, first time there for any sporting event.

While I’m not brave enough to go we need some of you old folks there to will our boys to victory.

Plan to drive up with my mutt FIL and BIL (who doesn't care about sports) and park at my BIL's apartment this year. I plan to outcheer the entire stadium if I have to and dance over their field following the joys of victory.

I don't go to GT but I know people in the band and they've told me they have plans for a stunt.

Word is it'll be similar to the 1992 tarp incident. That's all they'll tell me.

We don't go. Went in 1990, 1998, 2000 and had enough. My parents, daughter and her husband are coming to our new house to visit and will watch from home.

The band isn't performing on the field (unless something changed very recently), so anything similar to the tarp incident seems unlikely.

it might not be on the field, I don't know any details though.

I heard of these plans back in August so whatever it is they may not follow through with them.

Oh yeah, I think that was probably before it was decided it wouldn't be a full band trip.

We used to line the band bus windows with the center fold of the Hate Week Edition of the Technique for that trip as well. Unfortunately that tradition ended (unless they've been able to bring it back more recently) after some overly sensitive dwag fans shattered several of the charter bus windows one year.

I won't (can't, actually, no ticket) go but I can attest to the truly bizarre and difficult parking situation in Athens.

But I'm looking forward to it. Tech now knows that it can beat ranked teams even when badly beaten up. And, as Terence Moore said last night, Brent Key really, truly, down to his deepest depths hates Georgia. We'll be ready and that quiet confidence the coaches mentioned will arise again. This could be the year.

I appreciate all the input guys.

One follow up question - does anyone know which section(s) GT season ticket holders are in? I believe formally buying away tickets thru GT are only available for ST, which I’m not this year.

I’m between either sitting with our kind or on the 50 behind the dwag bench.

In my opinion, the members of this Board are way overboard in their criticism of travelling to Athens. I have been to Athens at least 15 times when we played them including a night game in 2010. While there will definitely be a few fans who will be intoxicated, I haven't experienced anything amounting to a hostile interaction with their fans. As you are coming into the campus area , there are a half dozen churches who will charge about $20 to park in pretty safe parking lots with about a 20 minute walk to the stadium. I would not waist a $500 round trip cost on Uber from Cobb County. I also like using the Jefferson exit off I 85 rather than going up 316. It's a straight shot without a ton of traffic on a 4 lane highway with a McDonalds right off the exit if you need a bathroom break. It is an enjoyable and extremely fun road trip. You will probably encounter some traffic on I85 coming home , but nothing crazy.

Tech's main section where the band is sitting is Section 101 (in the lower corner.) Sections 102 and 103 will have some Tech fans , but mostly UGA fans. I would avoid sitting in the 600 Section if possible. Those seats are just too high for my liking. Plus, the fans in the lower sections that I mention typically are more sophisticated than what you might encounter upstairs. But, their fans (save the drunk ones) are just like anyone else. If we beat them, their fans will be more upset with the UGA coaches than GT.
