In my opinion, the members of this Board are way overboard in their criticism of travelling to Athens. I have been to Athens at least 15 times when we played them including a night game in 2010. While there will definitely be a few fans who will be intoxicated, I haven't experienced anything amounting to a hostile interaction with their fans. As you are coming into the campus area , there are a half dozen churches who will charge about $20 to park in pretty safe parking lots with about a 20 minute walk to the stadium. I would not waist a $500 round trip cost on Uber from Cobb County. I also like using the Jefferson exit off I 85 rather than going up 316. It's a straight shot without a ton of traffic on a 4 lane highway with a McDonalds right off the exit if you need a bathroom break. It is an enjoyable and extremely fun road trip. You will probably encounter some traffic on I85 coming home , but nothing crazy.
I’m not exactly sure how you’ve avoided this. Are you a quiet fan or do you get loud and cheer for Tech? Not trying to accuse, just honestly asking. I’ve literally had their fans walk into tailgates and start fights unprompted - on multiple occasions.

In response, I am very loud, but not in an obnoxious way. Our school is respected for having high caliber players, coaches and fans. Like many of you, I enjoy having conversations with fans from opposing schools on the road. Maybe not so much at Miami. I have found their fans somewhat edgy. Tech will have a much better chance pulling the upset if UGA loses to Tennessee. If that happens, one of the great pleasures of life is listening to the Bulldog Fifth Quarter Call In show on the way home after a Jacket's victory in Athens. You talk about Dawg fans calling coaches and players out. I just enjoy seeing and hearing the Bulldog Nation suffer once and awhile. It might be one of those nights and everyone should come to the game if they can. I believe this year we have more difference makers than them, especially on offense. Those videos of the 2008 and the 2014 games with the Georgia radio call are priceless and you really want to experience this first hand!

I was there in 2000, 2008, 2014, and 2016. And all the others from 2000 to 2018. I’ve got little kids now and there’s no chance I’m taking them to that game up there until they’re a little older. I’ll be at the beach this year for Thanksgiving so I’ll miss it again. But I think we’ve got a real chance. If they lose to Tennessee I think they will have a ton of players sit and we will have a really good chance. If they win then they will be playing with their hair on fire trying to make an argument to get into the playoffs. I still think we could beat them, as they frankly aren’t that great, but it would be more difficult.

I think without King being able to pass the ball, our chances are low to beat UGA. Unlike Miami, they will play a run defense when King is in the game and slow us way down (not sure NC State will not do the same thing but different level of athletes). If King can at least throw an intermediate pass by the UGA game, that would give us a much better chance.

He’s gonna surprise them with some big passes, he’s just resting up and playin’ possum right now

I really do appreciate the input. My lone COFH in the cesspool was pretty rough (2006). To be fair, my friends and I weren’t the greatest of guests.

Bama / dwags in 2015 was very tame. Probably due to horrible weather and that the dwags likely accepted their fate before the game started.

FWIW, I’m not a proficient Uber user. But I’ve priced it around $75 each way. Obviously I could get burned with dynamic pricing but splitting the cost multiple ways and not needing to worry about a DD, makes it money well spent.

I've been to numerous games in Athens (I live here). I've only had one major hostile interaction, and none violent.

I also avoid 316. My route between Atlanta and Athens has been I-20, then take the Sigman Road exit (avoiding the worst of the traffic in Conyers) to 138 and then US 78. It's a little longer than taking 316 but much more pleasant and probably quicker.
