In general, what I’ve heard from previous football/athletic employees at GT is that CBK is not the easiest person to work for. He has high standards, and won’t hesitate to cut people off/out. I think he’s doing what he can to bring this program up, even if that means making big coaching/program changes. I think most football coaches aren’t the easiest people to work for, unless you have a long history and loyalty to them. I do know that BF and CBK had their own problems, so as we all know, it was a matter of time for BF to leave. I trust that Key is doing the best thing for the program- alongside the AD and pres.

I’m not losing any sleep because GT has the right people committed to keep a winning program. Faulkner and Wade aren’t going to stop that. The sky is not falling and even if Philo leaves the sky is not falling.

My personal opinion is our OLine was a major weakness this year which caused us a lot of issues. We had to use TE’s a lot which took a WR or RB off the field. And it changed our play calls, etc, etc. The season is over and I believe Key will find solid coaches and portal players.
I see it another way--at first the T.Ends couldn't block worth a CRAP!It got a bit better but one game I saw 3 different TEs miss their blocks on 3 straight plays. That ain't on Geep. If we don't come up with a good OL, next yr will be a real struggle because the DEfense is a BIG question, at BEST.

When we hired Jeep and Buster, we were broke and did the best we could at the time with $ we had if I remember correctly, now we have some $ and I expect we will hire differently than we did back then. CBK has said he spends all of his non family awake hours working on what this program will be 10 years from now. Because of the commitment of GT and CBK's comittment, drive and ability I believe we are headed to the promise land, just needs time.
We now have $ for the portal, money for coaches I believe we will get what we need and the good coaches will come to GTFB for us to do well next year and beyond. We are a very attractive program now with a great culture located in a great recruting area with a great recruiter in our HC, why wouldn't a really good coach want to come here and coach?
We have money raisers in our atrhletic dept, a school Pres who is really helping and leading the drive to make GT sports top notch.

I hope you are correct. I am a bit lower on the confidence scale. I see us needing a significant upgrade in talented players in nearly every area. How the outgoing Portal plays out next month will be a big tell as to our future direction.

We are always needing an upgrade with players. That’s been the case for decades. NIL and the portal has opened that door. NIL and the portal are literally still in diapers. Indiana was the golden winner of the first phase of this era because everything broke their way.

And next month and this portal cycle is just a blip in the game. Sure, we need to keep being relevant year upon year but this is a long game. The next big act is GT getting into a real conference within the next 4 years.

Looking back, it has taken us 3 years to go from the previous guy and 3 win seasons to now being ranked 22 at season’s end and having a QB the country admires. That took 3 years. The next 3 years are about positioning ourselves for a spot at the table in the next round of musical chairs.

Geep had offers from at least Nebraska and Florida. He’s a well respected coach.

Faulkner had multiple programs fighting to get him. Reportedly, Clemson, FSU, Auburn, Florida, and others were making offers. We at least tried to match Florida’s offer, which indicates we think he’s a great OC.

These are the offers that have become known.

If people weren’t impressed with our offense and offensive line, that wouldn’t have happened

Lower on the confidence scale than you were 3 years ago, or lower on the confidence scale than you interpreted that poster?

I think the talent is better than at the end of 2022 - not always hugely so, but better, and noticably so in some key places like WR and QB.

I'm torn. We had the top O in the country in terms of YPG for a few weeks. Still, we habitually started too slow and kicked too many FG's... and we faltered when we met up with some really good D's. A big part of that was our OL not winning battles against better D's when it was hat on hat and not giving our QB the pass protection he needed. Overall, we were very good, but there were some specific areas and situations that we were not.

The talent is better but not near the level we need to be truly competitive with the Top 10 teams year in and year out. Obviously the coaching is light years better. The financial situation is significantly improved but again not near the top level programs.

It's been a great climb from the ashes of CGC's mess. Sustained high level performance is very hard for all but the Blue Bloods. NIL and the Portal has opened doors for sure.

As we have seen there is competition for our coaches as well. We lost 2 good coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully we replace them with equal or better coaches. That is TBD.

Money is always an issue for GT. We get 50k in attendance where many others get 85-105K. That is a chunk of change.

Hoping for the best. GT sports leaves scars over the decades! Sustained success is always the challenge.

I agree but until I see the portal results I seriously doubt if we do any better next yr on Offense (except for that BOMB vs uga.)

I guess it depends how you define many, but only 13 teams in the country have stadiums over 85k.

Of those 13 Tech has more recent conference titles than 3 of those schools

Texas A&M 1998
Tennessee: 1998
UCLA: 1998
