Danny Hall question

There are several big boosters, including an ex GT player/MLB'er, who will ultimately make the decision with their checkbooks (they also give large amounts to other sports programs), but all signs point to Hall coming back for 2025. There's speculation that 2025 will be Hall's last celebratory lap.

Admittedly, I am an arms length baseball fan. As a student in the 90s, I was on the hill all the time… not a better afternoon to be had… but I have only attended a handful of games since.
I see / hear / understand all of the Hall issues, but I hope he makes his intentions known so we can plan, then he has an incredible swan song and steps aside on his own terms. To paraphrase Crash Davis, he needs to “hit his dinger and hang ‘em up.”
There is nothing right about us running him off, but we as a program need to take the next step.

I've been told Danny Hall will leave when he wants to leave...not when the fans want him to leave. He's got the backing of a LOT of big donors that Batt won't even discuss asking Hall to step down.

I didn’t make that clear, but I think that’s the way it should be…. For him, at least. We can have a shorter rope with the next guy, but at this point Hall should leave on his terms. I just hope all parties are keeping the best for GT in the forefront of the decisions they’re making.

I truly believe CDH was a good coach and mentor at one time. Past alumni speak highly of him. But, if you go back the past few years and speak to former players, very few have kind words to say about him. He has let Ramsey do all the recruiting and he has removed himself from the personal side of this game. He plays the bad guy role and plays who he wants and cuts who he wants with no emotional impact. That is not how the old CDH was. Some on this board know the old CDH and want to give that person his rightful farewell. I get it. Others see today’s version and want him out. I get that too.

No, you were clear. I was just repeating what I was told by a friend who is plugged in.

Batt won't ever ask "that" question about Danny Hall, but he has most definitely been making arrangements for the next guy behind the scenes. He has his list for potential replacements, just like he does for our other sports.

So we are letting a few big donors control our destiny? When did we become another Auburn? Hopefully we are better than that and the donors and J Batt have come together behind the scenes to move on in the best interest of our baseball program by not extending Danny's contract once again. As Killer pointed out, he is not the coach he once was and I'm trusting Batt to work this out with our donors.

Unfortunately I think baseball is third on Batt's list behind football and men's basketball. To a major extent, he was brought in to improve our financial position and the largest revenue sports will command the most attention.

There is no doubt it is a distant third behind football and basketball.

Texas just fired their coach David Pierce after 8 seasons, including 6 regional appearances, 4 regional wins, and 3 CWS appearances (and one COVID year where they were 14-3).

The job security we have given Danny Hall has no equal in today’s college baseball environment.

You make a strong case.

But, without knowing any details, my first question to more knowledgeable fans on here would be to ask if the Texas baseball situation and the Tech baseball situation is a good apples to apples comparison? I’m not trying to be argumentative, I just truly don’t know and would love to hear more discussion about this comparison.

The timing on that one is odd. Their season has been over for 3 weeks. There must be some new info that they have now that they didn't have 3 weeks ago...it will be interesting to see where Pierce lands and to see who they replace him with.
