A patient at St. Joseph's/Candler in Savannah was under investigation for having the coronavirus; health officials say the test has come back negative. YAY!

The Georgia Department of Public Health says an employee at Moody Air Force Base base dining facility has tested positive for coronavirus.

Just watched some chunks of 2 hours of Congressional testimony today. A few TLDNR interesting chunks.

Testing continues to be a bottleneck. Dr. Fauci and others testified there are stringent legal liabilities and regulations and restrictions that are contributing to the lack of aggressive ramp up by companies to assist. (Companies have to be certified and all kinds of things like process, QA, manufacturing, etc that typically take years to get approved by the FDA.) . They are trying to work on changing that, but nothing will be fast. Dr. Fauci said unlike any other countries, our myriad of these bureaucratic obstacles are making for huge hurdles. For example, the European versions of our FDA is typically much more aggressive about approving new technologies and treatments.

There were numerous examples given of nurses and regular patients who were showing symptoms or had reason to believe they may have been exposed, for whom doctors had requested a formal Coronavirus test. The CDC apparently has been denying many of these. The CDC guy there could not answer who was denying these or why that was happening and was insisting that should not be the case. Debbie WS asked what individual is in charge of all that so we can drill in and figure out what is going on and fix it, and the guy said nobody knows. What? What I also personally find confusing is why these states cannot test themselves without the CDC - here in South Carolina we can test several hundred a day and as far as I know these are not going to the CDC and done there.

State health agencies are not doing a good or consistent job of notifying people who might have been exposed to those who have tested positive with Coronavirus. A specific topic of discussion was port employees that loaded a cruise ship tested positive, yet the state agency still days later hasn't notified the cruise ship so that the ship can begin instituting precautions.

You mix this sad bowl of incompetence spaghetti with stupidity of individuals (like sick folks who don't self quarantine and so on), and here we are.

PGA Tour: Spectators banned from Savannah Golf Championships in April due to coronavirus.

Hmmm. That's the first golf tournament I have heard of taking such steps. The Masters in Augusta is still on, with spectators sill allowed. The city of Augusta would suffer SEVERE economic distress were the tournament to be cancelled or spectators banned.

This just further confirms for me that the foot-dragging CDC and FDA are among the biggest culprits in this whole fiasco. Yet another example of how the bureaucrats are ruining (and possibly running) the country. I heard part of Dr. Fauci's earlier testimony, and he at the very least confirmed, although I don't think he said it explicitly, that travel bans were a necessary tool for us to be using. And yet the House was set to vote today on a "no-ban rule", attempting to prohibit the President from further doing what he did in February in banning incoming travelers from China and in what he proposed last night in banning incoming travelers from Europe. And Bernie has said that we should not ban infected people from entering the country. These people are out of their ever-loving minds !!!

Ok. And Pence was appointed by POTUS 2 weeks ago to be in charge of the coronavirus. He's had 2 weeks to find an answer to that question. But I'm glad Debbie WS is finally pushing for an answer on that. Would be nice if we didn't have to wait for her to ask the right question though.

The tournament going on right now (Players Championship, aka the 5th Major) had a press conference earlier saying that as of tomorrow, spectators are not allowed at PGA events indefinitely.

Pence isn't God, as I'm sure you know. He can't automatically know something that might not be working correctly if someone doesn't tell him first. The specific instances Debbie asked about were brought up to her in the last like 1 day according to her.

I don't think being aware of testing issues is something that only God and Debbie WS can achieve.

Not changing the subject. One of those links was an example of someone in Georgia who was denied testing. And then eventually tested positive after appeals to get tested by the medical professionals. *nm, you must've read that article

If it wasn't clear already, then yes, I do think this administration is doing a very poor job of addressing this problem.

A one off here and there does not mean that there is a systemic problem necessarily. Also, you don’t get the virus because you weren’t able to get a test, LOL. Hopefully he was following his directions that he should self Quarantine if he has reason to believe he’s been exposed to the virus. If he did that, then the difference between having been tested and not is nothing.

Now, back to the original statement, don’t say the administration isn’t handling this the best, say it loud and clear so everybody can see it – the virus would not nearly be the problem that we see today if Trump and Pence were not president and vice president. Come on, say it out loud. You can do it.

Some may believe that travel restrictions, school and event shutdowns are overkill.
It may take years to determine if the wisest decisions were made.
hopefully, we never find out by going "above the line"
IMHO the chinese quarantine probably saved lives minimizing their amount of time atl (no pun intended)

I don't expect any administration to "quickly fix" a problem like this. But the President of the United States should do better.

The governor of Georgia just basically said: Elderly people should stay inside and their family should get food and medicines for them. That the state isn't making any mandates, but that local school districts should make their own decisions about whether to close for the next two weeks or not. (Seems like playing hardball)
