The ACC can’t rollover. This is an existential threat. Three-fourths of ACC presidents voted to file the complaint. Not ADs. School presidents. The ACC playing hardball? That had me spitting out my coffee. The ACC rolls over in every single negotiation. This will be no different. It may take longer but no way the GOR lasts into the 2030’s. Hostage situations don’t generally last a long time.
The GOR exists for one reason: To validate the league interest in creating the ACC Network. ESPN advised against it but said they would make investment if they could agree on an agreement. Hence, the GOR. Which FSU agreed to multiple times.
The big day is tomorrow. If FSU loses in court tomorrow, they will face the ACC in a NC court. Basically, it’s over for them despite the fact they will drag it out. The ACC, serving them a complaint following the Board vote, was masterful and completely upset their legal strategy.
