"illiterates" Some social justice warrior somewhere is getting red in the face.

When I was doing my residency (1993) there was a veterinary student enrolled who couldn't read. The term is learning disabled. They had a "reader" assist them with all their work and tests. When I heard about that, I couldn't help but remember my Vet School application process and that only one in ten qualified applicants got in. I said something to the effect that there were probably lots of applicants who could do their course work for themselves.

I was told by a post Doc that was present that I was just ignorant and that the learning disabled were just as capable (even if it took two to do the work of one). What did I know what cognitive skills it takes to be a veterinarian, even if I was one? I said, 'okay!"

If we can have "illiterate" doctors, then I don't see why people would kick-up a fuss over a learning disabled football player.

Illiteracy is not a learning disability but there are plenty of learning disabilities that leads to illiteracy. There are ways to overcome LDs to become literate.

When is the deadline for ESPN to renew the ACC contract? I know it's February but is it Feb 1 or Feb 28?
We don't know that there ever was an option to cancel the entire contract.

IF there was such an option and ESPN is still considering it, they would not have scheduled ACC teams for Thursday and Friday night ESPN games already.

ESPN has already publicly stated that Belichick signing with NC has increased demand. Found money. It's good for the ACC and good for GT.

If the networks are scrambling to survive as Tucker Carlson indicated will be interesting to see who survives. What happens to ACC if ESPN does not make it? Do the ACC schools see what TC sees and just waiting to see how it all shakes out? Don't have any choice about the waiting. Maybe this is why FSU pulled back. I'm guessing any that do survive will be running a lean ship.

Some of the more experienced Swarmers may tell me that this is "click bait" but it is online, so see the story below about Rumors that ESPN is angling for UNC to move to the SEC.

This news initially caught traction when Minnesota insider Greg Flugaur stated he’s heard from sources that UNC is dabbling with the prospect. Flugaur is almost certain that this is in the pipeline, and if not announced immediately i.e. February 1st, it shall happen down the line. Following this, USF fan and proclaimed insider “Randy” wrote on X, “UNC is not staying in ACC, folks. They have talked to the SEC and Big 10. Things are heating up. ESPN doesn’t want to lose UNC. ESPN will fight hard to move UNC to SEC. I expect SEC to go to 20 schools. Feel comfortable stating this after sourcing info and talking to my ESPN contact.”

LOL, you mean UNC is using Belichick to lure a conference suitor? The same Belichick with a measely buyout if he decides to jump back to the NFL? Sound like stupid business for UNC and the conference suitor. UNC and P2 conferences are not stupid.

UNC will lure a P2 suitor because they're "UNC", and BOTH SEC and B1G have been jonesing for UNC to join their conference for decades. A former UNC AD has spoken on record that UNC has had an open invitation to the SEC for decades. Coaches and players come and go...no one is getting invited to a conference for minor/temporary hire in the grand scheme of things.

Just reads like cheap clickbait.

I believe the February 2025 date is to give notice to the ACC that ESPN is optioning out of the contract. The actual cancellation date would be in February 2027. (Two Year Notice).

I am going by memory on this but see the attached article concerning the contract with a link to the actual information that the ACC was legally forced to turn over to FSU concerning the ESPN contract (with redactions).

The document they describe is the document that authorized the ACC Network. The document is heavily redacted, and you can't really tell what it is actually saying. If FSU really felt as confident in their lawsuit, they would not have been backtracking in the last several months. FSU now claims that they have never said that they actually want to leave the ACC. The only "proof" from that document is proof that fanboys will take any piece of information, no matter how vague or nondescript and claim that it is proof of what they have been saying all along.

If the redacted portions of the contract say that ESPN can decide whether or not to extend the ACC Network, they most likely will. Projections I have seen say that each team is making $10 million from the network. (When it was 14 teams plus ND) That would mean that ESPN is making $140-150 million profit from the ACC Network per year. If it were up to me, I would not turn off a $140 million profit center for no real reason.
