im willing to bet I'll be the only one, or only one of few, to agree with what what he said about MLB.

Oh, I agree wholeheartedly with what he said about baseball. Baseball players are some of the dumbest athletes so the notion that baseball is the "thinking man's game" is comical.

That said, he had no reason to disparage an entire nation to make his point and I hope they skewer him for it.

He said their educational system is lackluster due to economic constraints but so many from the DR are great at baseball because its a game of instincts.

What part of that is incorrect?
Of course he is also immediately labeled a racist.

Had he articulated it that way, it might not have come across as poorly as it did.

IMHO, he meant to be dismissive of Dominicans' intelligence, not to give some informed socioeconomic thesis.

Correct/incorrect doesn't matter.

The coaches do the thinking. The players do what they're told to do.

Might be the first time ive made a statement that was "articulated" better than someone else.

Anyone listen to the Lebetard podcast from yesterday? Hilarious

Was making a funny in round about way..

I understand that baseball is more like a chess game (thinking game) with bunting to advance the runner(s)..etc more so than football or basketball.

Sorry about that. Little harder to read tone on a screen.

It is a thinking game more than most in many ways. Not necessarily more than football in terms of choices on the field, but definitely more than basketball. it is a game of numbers, sample sizes, large and small, percentages and hunches.

That's no different than any other sport, including basketball.

Basketball is certainly a game of instincts, but it shouldn't be suggested that numbers don't play a significant role as well.

This mythical status baseball holds is a fabrication.

Thank you.

I never played baseball past the HS level and can tell you the play before it happe s with situations most of the time. Football on the other hand is so complex i have no idea whats going on most of the tine especially on the lines. Baseball is not that difficult. This is people just looking to be offended. And espb would not have fired him if he wouldnt have already been leaving.

There is a reason that "money ball" had its roots in baseball. It is more statistically predictable than basketball. The numbers do translate better and many got starts in probability and a love of numbers, or at least learned the importance of numbers from the back of baseball cards. I get it u don't like baseball, which is cool. But sometimes there is a kernel of truth behind the myth. They both are great sports, at least I think so fwiw (probably not much)

He may have been referring to me since my comments trend towards a mild dislike of baseball? I don't hate it, I just don't look at it as some 3-dimensional representation of calculus or something.

Well not everybody puts the math in baseball. But you must admit it's at least algebra 2 honors. And I don't think that's necessarily what makes it hard. You can't tell me that the battle Between the pitcher and hitter isn't the biggest mental battle in sports
