Pep Hamilton to interview at Vandy tomorrow.

Looks lik Vandy wants to shake the Harbaugh coaching tree. Also interviewed Derek Mason. The "Stanford Model" is not a bad sytem to put in place after Franklin. Gonna make it tough on GT since Vandy will no doubt hit GA and our recruiting pool.

Franklin was already doing that and was pretty successful as well.

Yup. Lot of talk from GT fans that Franklin leaving was good for us. But if Vandy gets in guys that coached under Harbaugh, with his demanding recruiting responsibilities and talent acumen, and it may be worse for GT if they get an ex-Harbaugh/Stanford guy.

Dumb a** writer......first they say this....."Vanderbilt needs a younger coach with the strength to recruit tirelessly, the energy to continue rallying the program and the football intelligence to maximize the team's personnel against the SEC's best"

And then include CPJ as a viable candidate? What a joke.
As soon as I read that, I started laughing

This might not be a bad situation for Pruitt to be able to get his own staff in place. Since, the last two assistants leaving wanted the DC job, the unity of Pruitt's defense could be better with new people of his choosing. If all the pieces come into shape on defense, the old defenders are fine with the new coach, and the incoming recruits do not flee, then UGA might have a much better defense next year. However, a new quarterback and new defensive coaching staff means a lot of work has to be done before next years games for UGA. This is a team that could be much better next year or have problems due to adjustments.

Georgia also needs its first couple of games to be void of the the top SEC opponents. Maybe they should play Florida as the first game next year.

On Vanderbilt and Franklin: It seems two-faced in my opinion for Franklin to take out an article in the local paper thanking Vanderbilt for giving him the chance to coach there, and then trying to persuade his recruits to follow him to Penn State.

That would be an interesting hire. Wonder how he will fit with what they currently have at Vandy. Should be a strong defense though.

Good hire by Vandy. Will bring the Harbaugh/Stanford Model to Nashville: Rely on the system of developing players (not necessarily highly regarded recruits) that fit their system. Tough guys that can run. Physcial along both sides of the line. On offense, Bo Schembechler power running offense with the West Coast passing offense. Get a highly cerebral QB who doesn't necessarily need the strongest arms, but can play within the offensive schemes. They like to beat their opponents into submission on both sides of the ball.

They will go after high rated guys, BUT only if they fit the system. Their model is based more on projecting recruits and developing them than finding the highest rated guys. Vandy's entry requirements are higher than most schools, but not as high as Stanford's. Would not be surprised to see Mason take what Franklin built and bring it to Stanford levels where they're competing for the SEC East every year.

The more I think about it. It's a great hire. He's a strong recruiter too. Definitely gonna make it tougher for us to pry defensive guys from them. He is inheriting some good talent from Franklin's last class, and will probably grab some good ones that couldn't make it into Stanford but can get into Vandy.

Yep, I was actually hoping Pep would be available for Tech in a year or two but anyway.
Vandy was going after Stanford the whole way. I think its smart Derek will have some good young talent in waiting 20 redshirt freshman from a top 25 class.
