But why did it take him 3 years to see this? That’s the head scratcher to me.
I’ve been as annoyed with the coaching as anyone, but what’s the alternative? If he pulls the plug on his new guys in years 1 or 2 that would have been way too early. Maybe the third year was one year too many. But this seems like the least of our complaints.

I think Mikey is still there and the starting center.

He's still on the roster. But I could be wrong.

This is from Ken's latest article:

"Long and offensive line coach Brent Key will have to develop three new starters on the offensive line to replace left tackle Devin Cochran, center Mikey Minihan and right guard Ryan Johnson. Transfers Paul Tchio (Clemson) and Pierce Quick (Alabama) are among those who will compete for spots, along with returning starter Jordan Williams and returnees Paula Vaipulu and Weston Franklin."

I disagree, I think the D last year in the secondary were more "I" guys than "Team" guys. The lack of communication and assignment execution led to WAY too many deep balls behind the safety. I'm glad I dont have to watch Yeh and Riq miss tackle after tackle, take poor angles, and then celebrating when were down 30+ points. Time for fresh new faces, doubt the D gets much worse.
If there's an area on this team that really can't possibly get much worse, it's the secondary.

4 wins and he keeps his job guaranteed, this may not be popular opinion, but Tstan does NOT want to have admit he WAS wrong. I just dont see CGC getting fired with 4 wins given the schedule we face next year.

I think the magic number is 5. I really think he's gotta pull some rabbits out of hats next year to survive.

5 will be very difficult, but i believe we can get there. Im middle of the road when it comes to CGC, another year like last and hes forsure gone. 1 more win and i see him staying, but the magic number absolutely could be 5. Going to be a very interesting season. He HAS to win the games hes SUPPOSE to win, or hes gone. Cant lose to a team like NIU or the Citadel or he might as well resign, although he wont!

Yep. I know some was upset his shirt was burned last yr but i personally center is a position that you don’t play around with and was glad he got his trial by fire last season

IMO, OL progression is the single most critical factor in our rebuild. I'd have burned all their shirts and gotten them as much PT as I could have. I know that's not always practical but I can't blame CGC/CBK one bit for burning OL shirts.

That would be the worst case scenario. A 5 win season and you clean house. That would be 14-32 in four years. If you don't fire your HC at that point then really you don't care about football
I just dont see it when i hear how Tstan condemns him after a year like we just witnessed. I see a AD who knew this would take 5+ years, however, he wont be able to defend him if a repeat of next year happens.

Minihan graduated and is moving on. We lose 3 full time starters on the OL - Minihan, Johnson and Cochran and a part-time starter when healthy in Cooper. We get one tackle back in Williams and Vaipulu started 5 of 8 games he appeared in last season. Lay started 5 of the 10 games he played, not sure if he is back or not.

On the DL we lose 3 starters - Ivey, Domineck and Brooks as well as 2 others that had starts - Griffin and Lockhart. From a starters standpoint we lose even more on the DL with 33 of the 40 starts gone.

On 247sports Gibbs is the #6 rated player in the portal and Ivey is #59. Ahmari Harvey is the highest rated incoming player for GT at #98.

Agreed. We also can't lose games in the way we lost the last two against ND and uga. Whether it's 4 or 5, I think we will see another year of CGC if we actually make progress next year.
