That game we played against ND in 2015 with BVG as DC was probably the most pitiful offensive performance I've ever seen from us. Though ND had a stud MLB back then that wrecked us. I don't know much about the Louisville personnel, but I don't think we'll have as much trouble against them.

I believe he hired a triple-option specialist to help ND formulate a gameplan and develop practice schemes to beat us

I don't think they did anything radically different schemewise. They had some badass defenders especially that MLB who seemed to make every tackle, most behind the LOS. Also, iirc, we sustained some critical injuries on O that game.

I keep remembering bits and pieces from that game. The game's outcome really turned on a handful of plays. We had a td called back on a phantom penalty, that was huge. We also gave up a couple of deep balls that hurt us badly. They were mostly amazing catches by that freak ND receiver, not so much bad D.

I seem to remember seeing a blatant push-off from Will Fuller, ND’s wide receiver, on one of the TDs.

Watch for yourself:

Also, the ND runningback had a 91 yard td run. That didn't help or did JT's fumble on our side of the field that set up a score. *Skov had his career day scoring 21 points.

Not a good angle on the push off. I’m sad to hear ND had their longest run in stadium history against us. [emoji52]

We didn't tackle well that game.

I just watched the replay. Not as blatant as I remember it from the nosebleeds in the corner of the stadium. He definitely created some separation with his arms. Could’ve called it but probably okay they didn’t. Replay is at 23:55.

That's one of the hardest plays for a db to defend: one where you're beat deep but the ball is underthrown. The wr puts on the breaks while you're still trying to catch up. If the ball was thrown in stride it would have resulted the same way but it would have just looked like the db got beat deep. The handplay is always a judgement call by the ref. I can remember a slew of times CJ got away with that and worse.
