Quite a few years ago I was in grad school with an All-England rugby player. When I asked him what he thought of American football, he said couldn't pay him enough money to play, scarey, too violent - especially with those helmets!

Rugby is a contact sport. Football is a collision sport. If you play a collision sport without armor there are less concussions yes. There are more deaths though.
