I think it's more like the stress-strain curve of a brittle material. It breaks without much evidence of plastic deformation.

Not the refs in that game. There were multiple egregious missed calls in that game. I hope Coach is on them especially about the blatant interference with Lynch in the end zone. I couldn't believe there wasn't a call on that.

My son played his ol all the way thru college ball and he has coach high school ol for 4 year then 10 as ic / head coach.

He teaches his kids how to make maximum use of rules. He rells me badically the first 1 second of grabbing in the ol is free.
If in open the grabbing is o.k. unless the defender is trying to get away towards the ball But You can't reach outside the body to grab.

In the case of the photo
The refs will not bail out a player being pancaked. The play being executed perfectly against defenders who are slow to the point of attack also biases the ref.
This is not goubg to ever be called as holdhng untill we are going into the hole to make a tackle.

Just now saw this play (on replay), 4th qtr with 14:30 left. I would be willing to bet WE would've been flagged for a hold, excellent OL technique or not.

With our offense not being very efficient I think this "bend but don't break" defense is keeping our offense off the field too much. That defense worked fairly well last year when we scored points almost every drive and forced a couple of turnovers every game.

Now we are not scoring very often and not forcing turnovers. The scheme limits our possessions drastically and our offense keeps our defense on the field all game. Maybe, a very aggressive defense could help things out? We may give up a few more TDs but at least it will give us a chance if the other team isn't on their A game. This scheme is toxic to this years offense.

Last year we iced opposing offenses on the sideline. This year our offense is getting iced. Part of it is their own fault for not sustaining drives, but the effect is still there. We need to do everything possible to keep our offense on the field more. If that means more agressive risky play by the defense, so be it. At this point we have no rhythm and need to get more series.

If coach saw 2 of our lineman simultaneously pancake 2 lb and rb run throw the hole for a big gain , he would call time out and run on to the field and give the linemen bear hugs

That was awful, actually. The guy was just running blindly with his hands in the air. Textbook PI.

But it's one play. Last year we would have found a way to win the game even with that happening to us...that's what good teams do. Very few remember the bad plays/calls in wins that everyone would be screaming about if the game had been a loss
