Oh and tell me more about the Camargo comment. He seems really talented but struggling with his role.
I've never been high on Camargo. I thought last year was a fluke but even if I'm wrong, I think that's the best he can play. I wanted to trade him and Ender for a starter this past offseason, but I get why they didn't do that with the uncertainty of JD's health and not knowing if Riley would actually work out long term. I think Camargo was upset being "demoted" and has let that affect his swing and attitude.

Some guys are head cases. Not always a terrible thing. Look at Smoltz, Folty. Those power guys, almost need a shrink. I’m a Camargo fan. He has shown what he can do playing constantly in the past. Off the bench, he is a young guy wanting to play badly sitting until the late innings. He might accept that role as a 35 yo. Maybe not. It’s clear to me, as much as he wants to help, his heart seems lost as an individual. As you know in sports, it can be mental. Will he straighten it out before Dansby comes back?

Yeah, it's too bad. He seems close to the Al-beast and Acuna but he's the only one not playing. Gotta be tough. I hope they move him for his own sake. I think he'd thrive once given a role.

I agree. It's hard to ask a guy not to take that personal though.

I think they should trade Riley for a starter. Ok, I'm gonna log out before the slings and arrows come. :D

Wasn’t Camargo hurt most or all of April last year. It took the majority of May to get him started:

According to my unofficial calculations, the Reds pick up the 2m. or so of the remaining salary. That way, any team like the Fish can’t claim him first during the 10 day waiver period on Gausman.

We need Folty. to thrive. He can regain that 13 win form and move up right behind Keuchel and Soroka. Pushes Fried to #4 and Tehran to #5. Although at playoff time, they might throw Max into the ‘pen, all contingent on having 3 or 4 starters Atlanta can rely on.

I can't see the Braves throwing a 12-4 starting pitcher into the bullpen:cigar:

Personally I hope they don’t either. Fried has been a good starter during this regular season. We can count on, most starts.
I like Newk. and Grant Dayton as the lefties, although they seem to like Blevins, who I think should be cut once Webb comes back.
I don’t trust Minter.

Calling Riley a Jeff Francouer when he has had three months in the majors. I recall Dansby Swanson not being able to lay off the slider at first, but time and coaching has cured that. It's clear that Riley has struggled, but having watched every game, it's clear to see he is already getting better at recognizing the slider. These last few games, he's been working the count and getting into much more favorable (1-0/2-1/etc) counts and fouling off sliders on the black.

I also watch every game and currently Riley is clueless when it comes to the slider, I hope he proves me wrong, but he has a long way to go ...

I would like to see Fried moved to the pen once the postseason starts. I love him as a starter, but you really only need 3 starters in the playoffs. I would say roll with a rotation of Keuchel, Soroka, and Teheran. Put Folty (if he starts pitching well again) and Fried in the pen as guys who can pitch multiple innings. With those two in the pen, the starters would really only need to give us 5 innings because of the added depth in the pen.

I’m afraid of Julio. He’s only gone 7 twice in 22 starts. Actually in more than half of them he hasn’t gone a full 6. I’d love to see Keuchel, Soroka, Fried, Folty(if he’s straightened out). Tehran would be my long man, although Snit./Kranitz like LH out of the ‘pen. I’d rather see Folty who was your #1 vs. LA last September, over Julio.

Riley is taking a few more pitches, but again, young guys need to play to get in a rhythm and he’s not a regular right now. I think I posted his stats a few pages back on here. He probably was the hottest hitter in baseball for those early months. Since then he’s only hit like 5 HR’s and a low BA. Just needs an adjustment period and playing time. It will be o.k. We don’t have many choices.

Outfielders Cristian Pache and Drew Waters, along with pitchers Ian Anderson and Tucker Davidson, were promoted from Double-A Mississippi. Baseball America ranks Pache the franchise’s No. 1 prospect, with Anderson and Waters following.

. Davidson, who’s on the 40-man roster, and Anderson are potential September promotions.

I hope Davidson and Anderson do get called up in September it will be cool to get them going with the A Braves(y)
