All for a September call up on Adam Duvall: I guess that’s why they decided to pay him an additional 3m. this season, Mike.

In a comparison to the problems we’ve had with our 8th, 9th innings(these guys have out performed our guys in the recent past). I won’t shame our late game relievers by posting their numbers, so here are the ones above Atlanta’s best dude:
  • SHANE GREENE, DET: 14 outings; 1.0 innings each; 5 clean frames.
  • KIRBY YATES, SDP: 20 outings; 1+ innings each; 13 clean outings*
    • *Had 8 of 9 in one stretch
    • *Only 3 in last 8 outings
  • BRAD HAND, CLE: 16 outings, 0.0 to 2 innings; 8 clean outings*
    • *Most of these in late May/Early June
  • WILL SMITH, SFG: 19 outings, 0.2-1.0 innings; 9 clean outings
  • ALEX COLOME, CHW: 19 outings, 0-1.2 innings; 9 clean outings*
    • *Most of these from late May through June.
  • SERGIO ROMO, MIA: 19 outings, 0.2-2.0 innings; 7 clean outings*
    • 4 of 5 outings were clean within 8 days of May 30.
  • KEN GILES, TOR: 19 outings, 1.0-1.1 innings; 10 clean outings*
    • 6 in a row before mid-May
This is based on walks, hits, hbp.

ESPN top 50 mid season prospects:

Mississippi Braves were 33-36 at the conclusion of the first half standings. 3rd place, 7 1/2 back.

Would you make a trade for Padres starting pitcher Eric Lauer? He's 5-7 with a 4.04 record but i think he's better than his record shows.
I would like a more proven stud like a Trevor Bauer(not that Cleveland will deal him while they are hot, right now). Boyd might be a lefty ready to get it done. I’ve been watching him of late. He is pounding the zone, trusting his stuff. His stuff looks good.

Hey I wanted to ask you about managers. I noticed you compiled a good list on the potential canned ones. Are there any you would rather have than Snitker? I remember in a few pages back, you had forecasted him for a second straight Mgr. of the Year award.

I like the job Snitker has done so far this season and think he's safer than safe the next few seasons. If he were to retire i wouldn't mind Joe Girardi or Bruce Bochy managing the Braves.

Thanks, I really like your insight. Those ex-catchers make good Managers, have a good working knowledge of the game.

I was good friends with Al Ciraldo, Sr. since the 1960’s until his passing. He was the first set of announcers hired at Atl.FulCo. Stadium with Jack Hurst. He had a sports show on WGST late in the afternoon(stayed busy with GT, Selling advertising, also). Therefore was stretched out trying to do the Braves 162 or 154 or however many we played back then. YOU would have been great taking over that sports show or announcing instead of Milo Hamilton with the Bravos.

If you can’t play a sport, be one....night all(that was Big Al!). Bee one!! YJ’s!

I guess we don’t need any outfielders or bench help. No room?

Wondering if Fred can use either of these guys in DC(Reyes, Renfroe)?
No thanks! Nats lineup & bench (the offense & defense) are just fine. Great... actually. Of course... there is an implied assumption, everyone remains healthy.

Nats & Braves are likely in an "arms" race as we speak. Nats need some help in the pen & maybe a starter if this Scherzer thing is more than they've publicly asserted.

The big question is... are there any "difference making" arms out there to grab? Moves have to & will be made because to do nothing = not trying. But TBD if there is something worth losing other parts for.

I heard a commentator up here say Braves farm system was in better shape to offer prospects than Nats. Take that FWIW. I certainly don't follow that stuff.

Yeah, the Braves Farm has been given a #2 ranking for all of MLB by a service that analyses each player. Imagine if they had their international players that were voided like Kevin Maitan, might be ranked 1st?

I really dislike injuries to guys like Scherzer, McCutcheon and Webb, who are hot. That waters down the game, since the replacements are not of the same quality.
