I was at the game. He did check on him as I saw him walk back across the field to our sideline. Just making up some bs?

Like I said to a previous poster, I hope he did but I was there too and didn't see it. but I'll say it again to you that I said to another poster, I hold he did but I didn't see it.

I thought Gamble did a good job yesterday though it was pretty obvious that he was playing out of position. He was good against the run and the pocket sure got smaller quicker. Oth, his OT didn't have much trouble keeping him at bay on the rush. It is really too bad - both for him and for us - that he won't get some back-to-back game experience. And kudos to Roof for trying this out; if Gamble had another two or three games to get used to DE, he might have been a real force there. I hope he recovers soon, but that looked like a pretty bad sprain. Still, he had his ankle wrapped and that might have kept some of the swelling at bay. As others above have said, sometimes what looks like a real bad sprain can recover surprisingly fast.

What worries me now is the two deep at DT. With Green slightly hurt and Gamble out, I would go ahead and bite the bullet: burn Klock's redshirt and move him over to DT for the rest of the year. We don't have any other scholarship players to help out. But that's why they pay Coach the big bucks.

Gamble made us bigger when in at DE. That was the primary difference and it is important. He isn't going to beat you off the edge like the elite DEs do, but he does get some push and he is tall enough to shrink the passing windows. He was more effective than the other guys we have put out there. I like the way takethepoints put it. "the pocket got smaller quicker". Even if you don't get there, a shrinking pocket affects the throw. Maybe the QB can't quite step into his throw as he is comfortable doing, that kind of thing.

I frankly didn't notice whether Johnson was over there checking on him or not, but one poster said no coaches (not just Johnson) were there. Well, duhh, who do you think was there checking on him and calling for the cart to take him off if it wasn't Tech coaches? It certainly wasn't the UVA coaches doing it.

It's funny that the first caller on the Paul Johnson show the other night said that we should have gotsis green gamble and Freeman starting. They did well. Keeping fingers crossed for green and gamble.

I think Green is ok. He came back in after going down and was on the exercise bike for a while on the sideline trying to stay loose.
