Who would you rather not play in the championship game and why?

Miami
Pitt
Duke
UVA
SMU
Louisville

Me, would me Miami. I still worry they have the best talent and on any given day they could put it together besides the bad game day coaching they have
I’d like to play UVa as (1) I feel fairly confident we are the better team; and (2) I think they’ll be nationally ranked if we get them in the Championship game (I think they could even be 10-2).
I DEFINITELY don’t want to see Duke get there as their OOC losses are embarrassments to the league and having to face them twice seems a recipe for disaster as it will be hard for our guys to get excited for it.
Any of the others would be OK but I don’t think any of them will be ranked and many of them have enough talent to beat us on “any given Saturday”.

Someone on Reddit (it's a GT flair, was this one of you guys?) did the math and determined that GT, Duke and UVA all control their own destiny for the ACC Championship game. Win out (conference games) and we're/they're in.

I glanced at it but the numbers started my head spinning. How is it possible that 3 teams control their own destiny? Doesn't one of them have to have some help with a loss somewhere?

GT and Duke can get there by winning out. UVA is dicier, as their tiebreak with SMU would come down to overall record of conference opponents. UVA is ahead right now but it’s by a very small margin. So I wouldn’t say that UVA controls their own destiny.

Good question but I would not want to play Miami or SMU both of those teams are loaded with talent. I would rather play UVA. I watched them against Wake Forest and thought they have a good team but not a group that is loaded with guys that other teams point to and look good getting off the bus.

I want us to get to the point of we’ll play anybody, anywhere, anytime.
A laudable goal but let me tell you we are a good defense away from being at that point lacking edge rushers that are big, strong, fast as well as a defensive tackle or two, faster linebackers, defensive backs that don't play 20 yards off the line when its 3rd and 8. Probably would not hurt to have another couple of players just in case.

I certainly don't remember this type of "let's get an easy matchup" mindset about our 2014 and 2009 teams. It's very telling and I think a nod to how much our record this year is a product of the easiest schedule in recent memory. Still, for any of the ACCCG matchup conversations to be remotely relevant, we have to beat at least BC and Pitt. At which point, I think we will be of the "anybody, anywhere, anytime" mindset.

We were not a possibility for a CFP in 2009 or 2014. If that were the case, I'd have wanted the easiest opponent possible.

Miami was loaded with talent the last two years as well when we beat them.

Yep but talent alone will not do it with Mario as the coach. Besides, I would fear that they would put it together for that one game and blow us right off the field.
Miami always falls apart at some point in the season and doesn't recover. The collapse has already started, we would destroy them.

that's usually when their purchased talent realizes they don't have a chance for a Natty. So then they are playing not to get hurt so they can make their NFL money. The ACC championship game will get them into the playoffs and a chance to win a Natty.
