Still thinking of GT winning out, there is a chance that there could be a 5-way tie for second place between:
Miami/Pitt
Duke
UVA
SMU
Louisville

If:
- The loser of the Duke / UVA game wins out
- The winner of the Duke / UVA drops a game
- SMU loses to Louisville and beat Cal, while Louisville beats Clemson
- Miami wins out OR Pitt loses to us and beats Miami

Finally, there is a scenario where we lose to Pitt and there is a 7-place tie for 1st place:

- The loser of the Duke / UVA game wins out
- The winner of the Duke / UVA drops a game
- SMU loses to Louisville and beats Cal, while Louisville beats Clemson
- Miami wins out

This would be the ultimate chaos scenario, which I sincerely hope doesn't happen. Any given Saturday boys.

You are assuming our defense plays just as bad as they did versus state. Our defense isn’t great, heck, they’re not even good. But they are not as bad as they showed in the last game.
Can't say much to a pessimist. Our defense was pretty weak last year and we competed until the end (or, after the end to me). If I've learned one thing it's that a big rivalry game is a great equalizer. We got the best out of our team last year for that game, and if we get the best this year we can win. Would like to have all of our DBs healthy.

"Duke controls their own destiny. If they beat UVA, UNC and Wake then they are 7-1 in conference and the only other team that can match them is SMU. SMU losses the 3-way tiebreaker with GT and Duke due to their loss to Wake, and it's a GT / SMU final."
Assume you mean both gt and duke control destiny, both win out, it's a gt/duke final?

Yes, that’s what I mean. If we win out, we are in no matter what. If Duke wins out, they will advance due to a win over Wake (which they need to win out).

That being said, I think Duke winning out is less likely than other scenarios. But that’s why they play the games.

Please just don’t have Duke win out. If the ACC wants some credibility they will cheat for this not to happen. It would be the worst possible outcome for our conference
No need to cheat. They can't beat either UVA or Wake.

If Tech wins out, Tech goes to the ACCCG and, probably, wins there too. Then, even with a loss to Ugag, it's playoff time. But I'll be frank: I don't think this Dwag outfit can beat Tech if Tech doesn't make any mistakes. If we do, there will be trouble.

But let's beat the Eagles first, shall we?

The ACCCG “semifinals” are Duke/UVA and GT/Pitt. If we win out, the most likely outcome is playing the winner of the Duke/UVA game, barring some craziness. Having been a viewer of ACC football for many years, it’s safe to assume that no craziness will happen and whatever is expected always happens in the ACC. Just don’t look at the results of *any* game.

The A brands (Clemson, FSU, Miami) are either bad or faded, leaving everyone else, iiwii. I just want GT to win, worry far less about the ACC image. Of course, we can contribute mightily to ACC credibility by beating Uga.

Duke has only 1 conference loss, same as us. OTOH we can probably all agree Duke is unlikely to beat both Wake and UVA (although you never know with UVA qb injury) and UNC is getting better. So we’ll see. Wake is playing well now, especially defense, will be surprised if Duke beats Wake.

We need to become the biggest Wake fans the next few weeks. They took care of Virginia and now have UNC, Delaware, and Duke. All very winnable. This would give us a win over a 9-3 team and knocks Duke out of ACC champ game conversation. Duke going to ACC CG is very very bad for optics of the ACC, it would be embarrassing.

I've always been a Wake fan. They're number 4 on the list right behind Tech, Mississippi State (the good dogs), and Ole Miss. They have the best RB in the conference and a right good D. (I wish Tech could find out how they learn to tackle.) Their problem all year has been inconsistent QB play, but they seem to be settling down there.

Btw, I'll say it again. The reason we didn't beat NCSU was that, for the first time this year, they didn't screw up. Just the average NCSU screw ups and Tech wins like Pitt did.

Exactly how I felt.

Someone on Reddit (it's a GT flair, was this one of you guys?) did the math and determined that GT, Duke and UVA all control their own destiny for the ACC Championship game. Win out (conference games) and we're/they're in.

In that case, I’m rooting for UVA. Can you imagine the psychological hurdles we’d face coming off a big game against UGA(win or loss) to play a 4 loss team that we already beat for the championship game? I’m sorry, but that has “come out flat” written all over it. It could be 6-3 all over again except with those two offenses, it would be 46-43

At that point in time, we should just have our own playoff for the lolz.

Who would you rather not play in the championship game and why?

Miami
Pitt
Duke
UVA
SMU
Louisville

Me, would me Miami. I still worry they have the best talent and on any given day they could put it together besides the bad game day coaching they have
I don't want to play either Duke or SMU. Why? Those teams have ****** resumes and don't belong to there. it's a blackeye for the conference to have teams that lose to Uconn and Baylor in the conference championship. Which other league outside of the MAC or Sunbelt would have this?? Plus it's just fun to beat UM with all their talent. And Uva and Tony Elliott are sort of a feel good story.

It would be fun to beat UM just for the lolz and cement full panic attacks by their fan base. Mario would always flinch at the site of a GT logo.
