Philo is still making some freshman mistakes and needs to learn when to pull back on the heat for some throws. However, he is one of the most calm and poised freshman QBs I have ever seen. No matter what happened he stayed level and commanded that offense. His ability to be decisive and make quick decisions was fantastic!

Not a chance in hell he needs to "pull back on the heat for some throws". His trash *** receivers need to learn how to catch the damn ball! He puts it in the money time after time only for them to drop it. Reminds me of the Falcons back in the day trying to catch Vick's passes.

I can't recall the last freshman QB playing this well.

Simms could run, but his arm/passing was still raw.

Definitely hopefully they got their replacement for King for next/following year.

OT, Does anyone know if Knowles has looked good in practice? Know he was RS, but just wondering if he's someone that could push Philo in the upcoming years?

He needs to learn to throw a more catchable ball on short routes. We can agree to disagree, but high heat is deadly across the middle in the EZ. Nobody’s saying to underhand the ball, but he has a very strong arm and needs to pull back a bit from 10 yards.

He has a lot of upside and raw talent but still has growing to do. There were some bad decision plays that luckily didn’t get picked off. He also was a little slower on his run reads. The good news is he is a freshman and has a chance to grow into his full potential which is high.
If we can keep Weinke as QB coach, Philo will keep getting better.

Except for Stockton, that dude caught everything thrown his way

Who knows if King will have to get surgery or will otherwise be fully recovered by the spring? If Philo gets a full offseason working as #1 QB throwing to the receivers and rb’s everyday, making his run-reads faster he will be a LOT better next season

I think he still is not great at running the RPO yet. NCSU was just keying on JH and very few times he pulled it for a qb run. May have been designed runs rather than an option. Philo is what 18 years old and HK is 23. He will improve and has the "IT" factor the really good ones have.

We need to shut King down. I admire his guts and appreciate his toughness, but he is compromised and we are going to really get him injured if we continue to play him.

At this point Philo has shown enough to be given the keys to the Ramblin Wreck. He is learning on the job but will only get better with experience.

Go Jackets!
I hate it but I agree. Maybe only on GL situations.

Not even on campus, but I think Grady Adamson (commit this year) is the type of dual-threat QB that could push Philo, depending on his passing. If you look at King, he’s an amazing run game threat and his downfield passing is OK. Philo’s downfield passing is really good but he’s not an every down run game threat. If Adamson’s downfield passing is really strong that would push Philo.

As for Knowlson, we haven’t seen him so hard to tell but I don’t see the mobility there.

As Stinger said, short yardage or red zone packages but agree. We surprised Miami but now that there is film teams know his limitations.

I think part of why we limited King so much was to heal up his arm for uga.
