Here's the thing...

Not going to be negative one bit

If you tell me we have an 8-2 lead with Caden, Cooper, and Bret going in to pitch, we win almost every time. Tonight sucked. No doubt. Flush it and get ready for tomorrow.

Team needs every fan there in their seat ready for bedlam. All pitching arms on deck except for Tate and Blakely. Get some rest tonight boys.

Just heard that Okie Dokie will be home team again tomorrow....absolute garbage. Tech should complain however the commish is a pansy that'll never stand up for a non carolina acc school....
Just go destroy them!

I'll bee there with both chains....Team isn't defeated neither should our fan base...
Let's Freaking GO!!!!

Game time - 3:06pm. Everyone get to the Rusty C

The rule is dumb but it's an NCAA rule. Nothing the ACC or SEC can do about it unless they work to change it in the offseason. They've been visitor more times than us so they're home. Just focus on controlling what is in your control.

True.
Go control what you can but if that doesn't scream participation trophy rule, I don't know what does...

Ramsey says we are home team.
I have no idea at this point.

There's definitely a lot of crossed signals.

They are fine. It's one of the many perks that go along with being 18 to 20. We are the ones with the years of memories.
No only that... but they have some actual control over the situation. That combined with their confidence in their process... they'll be fine as far as preparation and mindset go. If OU goes 4-1 over 3 days and beats Ga Tech 2 times in that stretch.... they deserve it. They won't be the "better" team (full body of work); but all that matters is being the best of the 4 teams that arrived to play on Friday.

As to things under your control. Fans are the worst... when things go a little sideways and all you can do is watch. Well.. I think I wish many would just WATCH ... some keyboards get an unnecessary workout too. :)

Here is a question for you who saw the game. (I followed on a gametracker that lagged the live TV action and sort of followed in chat). There was a lot of criticism of the umps in chat last night and most seemed to feel it was bad either way. My question - the OU pitchers did not seem to be affected as much by the umps. (Again, I did not see it so I am "guessing" a bit). Is there a certain type of pitching style that their pitcher(s) have or had that would make them less vulnerable to this? for example, a flame thrower who is trying to just blow the ball by the batter vs a finesse style pitcher trying to hit exact locations that might be called differently from inning to inning or even batter to batter? thanks for any insight.

It’s not all balls/strikes. They literally forced Tech to do a pitching change that we never intended to do, requested, or triggered by some violation. That’s a major ****up and is the kind of thing that can change the course of a tournament.

Hindsight says it probably didn’t affect the outcome of the game, and hopefully doesn’t have rippling affects to today. But can you imagine if that had happened with a starter that was cruising in the 3rd or 4th because Ramsey had a mound visit to set the defense?

Yeah, TBH, most of the guys on this team were babies the last time we made it through a regional. We, OTOH, have lived through every failure and bear the appropriate PTSD.
I'm brainstorming here (you know what they say about this right??...) we all saw what happened to Parker after graduation. Maybe Dr. Cabrera could give all these guys diplomas today at a special ceremony at lunch. There, I am putting this out to the Institute to use gratis. i just want tix to the Supers!! ;)

I appreciate the answer. Can you elaborate a bit more as I am not quite sure what you mean (again, I was mostly following on gametracker).

I forget the exact scenario, but I think it was Underwood on the mound and we had Barfield and somebody else in the pen warming up. Ramsey went for a mound visit to set the defense and was pointing around the infield while discussing what he wanted to happen. Next thing you know Barfield is jogging onto the field and Ramsey looks confused and asks what’s going on. Ump says you asked for a pitching change. Ramsey said no I did not. They argued for 2 minutes and ump said they already checked Barfield into the game. Replay showed that Ramsey did nothing that could be interpreted as calling for a pitching change by any ump that was paying attention. So we were forced to make a pitching change that we didn’t intend to make.

It is possible you are 100% correct. I'll add my interpretation of the exact same sequence.

The gesture - I think Ramsey did make a gesture that could have been interpreted as pointing for the change. I DO NOT believe he was gesturing for a change; but it "could" (and I assume was) interpreted that way. Yes... a bad error from the crew, there. I'd love to know the remedy... which plays into my next thought.

The actual pitching change - No question Ramsey was hot when he figured out they'd somehow thought he wanted a change... rightfully so. However, I think it is possible (no way to know unless he's commented on it honestly... I have not heard anything). It is possible he intended to make the move ... but wanted to give Barfield a few more pitches in the pen before calling for him. I would think IF Ramsey did not make the gesture and then said to ump I am not calling for a change here.. they would have sent Barfield back to the pen. I believe Ramsey was (rightfully) upset they messed up his timing of the who thing.
