It's Uche which has already been mentioned countless times. A lot of double posts and multiple transfer threads on here now. Would appreciate it if mods could clean all this stuff up over the holidays.
We need ONE thread for all TP (Transfer Portal) discussions just like we have for recruiting. Everything else related to TP should be deleted/consolidated.

I imagine, if only to keep up the illusion that NIL is not pay-4-play, the agreements can't come with these kinds of stipulations. So I imagine this report is probably not fully accurate. But I also agree with you .... we need some good LB's so .... add 'im to @minorityoption's Christmas list.
Yeah. In the real world, if he's good enough, he'd get all that anyway. No need to 'demand' it, really. This is true in many areas of life.

Man, for all these guys that won’t make NFL rosters one day; the transfer portal will ruin them in the real world.
You can’t transfer every time your‘e not making the kind of salary that you think you “deserve” or because you’re tired of your job in the business world.
The portal may teach capitalism but it’s also teaching how to be a terrible future employee who is never happy or productive unless you get your way!

I imagine both ends of the spectrum see this has been playing out in many areas of life. Lack of commitment. Nothing wrong with leaving a bad situation where you feel you're not getting what you think you 'deserve'. But understand there's risk in that.

I can take that to mean that he made those demands of Florida and when they said no, he hit the portal. Could’ve been a means to an end as much as anything.
That said, if those are his opening demands for his new destination, I agree, hard pass.

I am sorry for rant, but...
I keep asking myself why I want to continue to support this madness. Every day there seems to be more insanity. I see the exit ramp for me fast approaching. This saddens me.
I am trying to decide what being a GT fan means in the age of NIL, unlimited / unconstrained transfers, and complete lack of oversight with regards to tampering and pay for play rules. I have been giving to the scholarship fund for some time. I have set up.an endowment to fund a scholarship. I have supported almost every single campaign over the past 20 years.
When the latest campaign was announced last month, I knew right away I was not in the same mind set. This is no longer a financial question of what I was willing or capable to contribute to support scholarship at the school I love. It is now whether I wish to support semi professional sports leagues that have no salary cap, no rules, and no semblance of academics driving the equation.
My inclination is that I will stop making donations to the scholarship fund if it can be directed to any revenue sports. I will not fund capital projects if it is for revenue sports. I will reduce my ticket purchase to football and basketball to as minimal as possible.
I will still be a fan and cheer for the Jackets. I will still be happy when we win and upset when we lose. But I will support GT in a manner that is consistent with how I financially support the professional teams that I love, which is limited. I will occasionally purchase extra tickets to bring my entire family to games, but I will not consider my (and my family's) weekly attendance at football games to be as important as it has been for the 26 straight years I have been a season ticket holder.
Those who disagree with me can do so as they wish, but I can no longer participate in the madness.

Been wondering when this sort of thing would hit. Would be like Vandy reaching out to Haynes King with a difficult-to-refuse offer before our bowl game (or us doing it to Vandy's QB).
You don't expect that level of dishonest/unsportsmanlike behavior, but some coaches apparently have no scruples. Part of the problem is the pressure to win in order to keep your job.

It generally sorts itself out there over time: look at someone’s resume 5-10 years into their career and chat with them for 30 minutes and you can often tell pretty easily.
And likewise, bad employers develop a reputation of their own, and if you chat with a hiring manager you can often catch some tells.
And then you can choose not to hire the flakes, unless you’re desperate - which might be a sign you’re a bad employer, in which case you may just be getting what you deserve.
So will the CFB market stabilize like that? the player churn is higher since the eligibility window is shorter, and coach/admin turnover is very high too. So maybe those will prevent a baseline from being established quickly.
I’m very curious how deep the pool of “people writing seven figure checks who are willing to put up with crazy demands” is. People can stay irrational for a long time, especially if they’ve tied their ego to their college team of choice winning.
