Just like the end we lost last year, Eddie Kelly…why would you ever want to play at Missouri over GA Tech? Maybe a little bit more money, but you’re in the SEC. Doesn’t matter that Missouri doesn’t really move the needle. Kids would rather be 7-5 at a nothing SEC school. Academics do not matter.

Until we fill BDS every Saturday, win a minimum of 9 games every year…GA Tech will be viewed as a stepping stone, middling program who wins 3 to 6 games every year and is coached by the triple option running Geoff Collins.
I don't agree with the Geoff Collins statement. I think it has been long enough that people know the difference. I think the deciding point comes down to 2 things, money and ability to get into the NFL. We have so few players get into the NFL compared to other teams that will definitely weigh in on a player's mindset if their goal is to get to the NFL. The degree doesn't have much sway for most top talented players.

Just like 99% of non college athletes.
OK. TBH, how many of us have had major $$$ waved in front of us (I’m talking 5/6-figure differentials) that is much different from what you are already making. How many of us have flat out bailed on contracts for that? Some, yes, but not too many. The contracts and no competes make it hard.

It’s apples and oranges. To make it oranges and oranges, we need contracts and no competes for our little darlings. Let’s see what happens then.

Leo Blackburn (grad transfer)... will always be thinking what could have been. Hope he is healthy and gets on the field to show what he can do wherever he lands.

Always hoped he was going to come in and be a force. Those pre-season injuries really derailed what could have been a truly special player.

This guy exemplifies why more players should choose schools for school. Even though football hasn't worked out he has a degree that means something for the rest of his life.

Yeah, I’m exaggerating a tad…but believe it or not, there are people out there who think we still run the 3O. Still. Im just saying…the younger generation thinks we have a history more in line with Vandy, thanks to the tail end of Paul’s tenure and the debacle that was Geoff Collins. In my experience, most people are surprised to learn we’re historically a top 25 program with a rich history. I think that’s evident with these new uga fans not considering us a rival, when the older heads, including their coach, say we are absolutely the top and most hated rival. Recency bias.

Non-competes are often a racket if the employer can still fire you at will.

A multi-year contract would be fine here. Nobody is switching mid-season and suiting up immediately anyway.

Also, remember that entering the portal doesn't necessarily mean gone. Just means they're going into 'free agency'. Tech could still 're-sign' someone out of the portal. Schools have to constantly re-recruit their players these days. I hate it. I hope we get a better system at some point. But hate the game, not the players.

Honestly, if I had a kid in CFB these days, I'd be counseling him to consider putting his name in the portal and seeing his options. Most of these kids aren't going to have NFL careers. If they can make 6 figures somewhere as a college student, that's potentially life-changing.

Wonder why he's leaving. Was he not an entrenched starter?
Corey was in a 60-40 playing time split with Jordan Brown the first half of the year and Ethan Mackenny second half of the year. I'd think he could be a Day 1-2 pick with more visibility and 100% playing time. Not sure we'd give 100% to him though with Mackenny and Petty on the bench next year.

Don't forget this portal reality: an SA a lot of times is in the Portal because they talked to the coach, and the coach told the player it would be in the best interest for the SA to look elsewhere, or the team is going in a different direction (i.e. the coach think someone else will get more time at their spot). The portal works both ways.

As long as Philo and Knowles stay we will be just fine at QB. I worry about Knowles right now. Would love to grab a bruising RB and a tall, possession receiver for the offense in order to have Malik and Singleton in the slot with Canion on the outside.

Defense we know needs bodies on the line, impact LBs, and a starter or two on the back end. Hopefully next year is the breakout year of Butler at LB.

I think we’re OK at LB, though we’re thin. Efford, Butler, and Lightsey will be beasts. Cruz and Hamilton can play as well. I am sure other young guys will step up, plus a transfer or two.
