Sorta watching Sparty beating up on
Purdue. Isn’t Purdue where our former mystery AD “Sasquatch” Bobinski landed? Purdue is really awful.

Beyond awful. I am hoping they have been saving up all year for the Hoosiers but I think they’re just saving up for basketball.

And yes… MBob is the current AD.
My dad went to Purdue and he was pretty excited about the prospect of MBob because he thought it would be good for football program. I hoped it would work out but but feared I knew better.

Today's games with CFP impact:

Indiana @ Ohio St; Indiana needs to keep this close (or win); tOSU is a 10-ppoint favorite
Penn St @ Minnesota; PSU cannot afford a loss here and this could be a tough game even at 11-poiint favs
Oregon is done with conference games

Kentucky @ Texas; The Longhorns just need to take of business
Texas A&M @ Auburn; A&M fans should fear this game as 2-point favorites
Alabama @ Oklahoma; See A&M note above; 14 points might be fat
Ole Miss @ Florida; See A&M note above; 12-points might be fat
uga and Tennessee essentially have a bye week

Wake Forest @ Miami; Miami needs to get back on track with a wipe out here
SMU @ Virginia; The horses need to stampede the Hoos
Clemson is essentially off this week

BYU @ Arizona St; BYU could have their hands full today as 3-point dogs
Colorado @ Kansas; Kansas is a tough out and the line is only 3 points
Iowa St @ Utah; This means nothing unless ISU ends up being B12 champs

Army @ Notre Dame; Any loss and the Irish are out; 14-point favorites today

Boise St @ Wyoming; The Cowboys are terrible; this should be a romp

What a cowardly post! You didn’t actually pick a single winner.

What I find interesting is no one Questions Texas but many crap on Indiana over their schedule. Compare their schedules side by side and after today both teams will have played one "good" opponent. Texas lost to UGA 30-15 at home and we will see how Indiana does against Ohio State. Both played soft non conference schedules. Both played a bunch of mediocre at best conference teams. One common opponent Michigan which they both beat.

Indiana is fine. They have Purdue next week and they will destroy them. Texas is at A&M next week. A loss there will hurt them as they will have lost to the only 2 good teams they have faced and they will have zero good wins!

Miami simply needs to win. Any loss and they are out of the ACC Championship Game, well if SMU loses to both Virginia and California, then Miami could be back in the ACC CG. Only one ACC Team is getting in the CFP unless there are upsets galore in the SEC, very unlikely.

The Big 12 is up for grabs for sure!

You are 100% correct on ND. They can't afford a loss to Army.

I crapped on Texas.
Yeah they tried to play Michigan OOC, but that didn’t work out.
They’ve beaten NO ONE.
The only reason they are somewhat getting a pass is because they still have aTm and presumably the SECCG. But yeah; they’ve done nothing yet.
I would love to see IU just beat OSU. The Hoosiers are already a lock… I would at least like to think they earned the spot.
I think we’re going to see 2-3 Big ten teams host and lose first round games to at large SEC teams.

Weird season. Lots of teams looked dominant until they didn’t. Teams like uga, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Alabama (see a pattern here?) seemed like powerhouses until some other team exposed a glaring weakness in their game.

Miami is even weirder. As usual, they have the talent. When they play well they look like they could run any team in the nation off the field. But their coaches seem not quite up to the task. The team rarely gives full effort in games. I sense an overall lack of toughness.

Ohio State looks good but that may be B1G conference bias. Who have they beaten that was really a top team? Penn State might be the fourth best team in The SEC.

Oregon? Are they as good as their record? Not enough evidence to me.

I think you could do a comparison of the schedules of Texas, Oregon, and Indiana and not see much difference.
Oregon has played one CFP contender. Indiana is playing their 1st today. Texas lost to the only one they played. Is A&M still a contender as the #15 ranked team? uga and Bama have played through a decent schedule, but they have lost two games each. Is a two loss uga more deserving that a one loss Miami whose schedule is similar to Indiana's.

I sure hope we don’t have another playoff in which people are finely parsing the meaning of “deserving.”

I could get a little more comfortable if the discussion centered around quality wins more so than perceived schedule strength and “quality” losses.
Problem is that hundreds of seasons of football have predisposed us to believe the best teams have the fewest losses and we spend more time “explaining away” those losses than we do looking at actual achievements.

Yup. Losses are harder to explain than weak wins, unless you are SECheat, which has spent the last 30 years crafting The Narrative to cover that.
