Dang! Haynes is so good he made it twice! Also, Haynes King got ripped. No way he was 4th best QB in the ACC this season.
I think we tend to look at these awards through gold-tinted glasses. I’m as excited about Haynes King and the rest of our playmakers as anyone, but just going by stats, King comes in about 4th in the ACC, which is where he was placed. 4th in passing yards, 13th in completion percentage, and 6th in QBR. On the plus side, he added a lot of value with his running game and placed first in total TDs. Counterbalancing that, he has the highest number of interceptions thrown. As GT fans we may be viewing his performance and importance to the team with a measuring stick warped by our prior 4 seasons.

Although GT placed fourth in conference standings, at 6-6 we did not have the overall record to garner the attention that some of the teams above us have. There is likely some bias toward teams that have the best overall W-L records.

The other thing that I think the selections showcase is that teams like GT may not have as many elite players as some other teams, but as far as the ACC standings reflect, are a better team (at least on offense). It’s telling that Miami had the second-most players selected, but placed 9th in the conference standings.

King is a major reason why we were able to beat Miami and UNC and hang tough with Louisville and UGAg. He was much more integral to team success than others, IMPO.

Take a closerer look, I mentioned that in my post
Oops, skimmed it and miss read it.

Who else would you put on the All Conference team. I thought King should be 3rd team QB. He was 3 votes behind Plumber who likely got more votes as Louisville has a much better record than GT.

I don't see anyone else on our team that the list screals is missing. Hard to put any other defender on as bad as our defensive stats were.

On offense we spread the ball around among the receivers. OL hard to say. They struggled early but were solid late in the season less the Clemson game.

I’m not so sure we’re being biased here. I’ve seen Haynes King mentioned as a snub in non-GT circles today.

Who creates this list anyway? Media (shrugs)? If players or coaches create it, it probably has more validity, although bias will always exist.

The All-ACC teams were chosen by a voting panel of 51 media members and each of the league's 14 head coaches for a total of 65 voters. Three points were awarded for each first-team vote, two points for each second-team vote, and one point for each third-team selection.

Thank you. And now, knowing it's primarily made up of media...I feel comfortable in ignoring it as being uneducated and biased.

I think there is a group of reporters in North Carolina and parts of Virginia that see extra of the North Carolina teams.

If you’re the UNC beat reporter, there’s a NCST, Wake, and Duke beat reporter at the same paper. If you’re a radio or TV reporter, you see clips from all four teams on Saturdays. If they just vote what they see, they’ll lean towards the teams that get more coverage.

This also means more people see FSU, Miami, and Clemson, while fewer see GT, Syracuse, Pitt, and BC

I would be very surprised if most of the media looked into detailed stats for most of the positions. They may have some familiarity with the teams that they cover, otherwise, they're going to take the lazy way out. Best QB? Pick the ones for the teams with the best record, then any that are expected to be a first-round pick. Easy. And for a position like cornerback, I think some just throw darts at the wall (see David Hale's tweet).
