Have to get to 40. I think by next Feb. But some can be injured reserve and not on roster but stay on team / scholarship I think.

I'll post who is on roster and who played in 2 scrimmage games. But it's all a guess at this point.

A lot of development between now and Feb.
I think Nuke is correct. Three pitchers still rehabing from surgeries. I think at least two are freshman who will more than likely get a medical redshirt. Seemingly, if there is another cut, it will only be one player if any at all. If a player actually comes over from the football team, this may necessitate someone being removed. Time will tell.

A few years ago, I set up a spreadsheet to try to figure out who we would be playing year to year. The division opponents are a no brainer. The out of division opponents seemed to follow a pattern, until 2021 when we had 2 extra teams to play. Do we have a 36 game conference season this year as well, or is it back to 30? My projections seem to be correct so far, excluding the extra 2 teams (noted in orange) that we played last year. Not sure how that will impact the scheduling going forward. So far, based on Fred's schedule build, I'd expect @NC State and Wake at home. Not sure how playing @NC State last year off schedule will impact that.

THANK GOD! Pittsburgh in May! I have attended way too many games at Pitt where there was ice/snow on the field or couldn't feel my fingers and toes by the time the game was over. Although there's no guarantee that there won't be a May snowstorm in Pittsburgh, I'm feeling lucky this year.

**Disclaimer - MOST of this is based on published schedules of opponents. The rest is built from other sources, slotting in series where they can only fit, & a big assumption about placement of the non-conference 'weekend' series. Bottom line... buyer beware. Nothing official. Your fees paid for services will be refunded in full should any errors arise.

Is this Danny Hall's last hurrah?

No idea.... but 2 days later (on Thursday) they play at Pitt. Under 2 hour bus ride from Kent St.
Pitt is a fun road trip, we haven’t been since 2018 and it will be a lot of guys’ only trip there. So I suspect this will be both a final send off for CDH and a little bit of a team reward by spending a few extra days at Pitt.

Add an "Ohio" road trip. This generates some questions (for me). Also...heavy load to end regular season (5 games in 6 days)... all on road.

Mon May 16th at Akron
Tues May 17th at Kent
Definitely "non-standard"

True but those midweek opponents will hopefully be pitching their midweek guys since they most likely have conference weekend series to worry about themselves. I would hope our midweek staff, at that point of the season, is better than what they can throw at us. If not, then we have bigger problems to worry about than playing 5 games in 6 days.

My first thought was "Why Akron?". Kent State I get. Danny was the head coach there from 1988-1993 until GT hired him when Jim Morris left for Miami.

Miami of Ohio I would get, as that's where Danny played college ball and was an assistant for a year or two after his playing days.

A quick search answered the "Why Akron" question. Akron's current head coach is Chris Sabo. Best remembered by myself as the Cincinnati Reds player that wore goggles, or at least that's what I recall his eyewear looking like at the time...

He also played for Michigan from 1980-1983. Danny Hall was an assistant coach at Michigan from 1980-1987. So Danny would have been an assistant coach while Sabo was playing at Michigan (HOF Barry Larkin was on that team as well, but this post is about Chris Sabo...).

It looks like Sabo has had a pretty rough time at Akron so far. 1-12 in a shortened 2020, and 15-36 in 2021.

So a Kent State - Akron - Pittsburgh tour makes sense to me, especially if Danny's thinking about retirement soon.
