Id like to see "The Institute" be our answer to "The Ohio State" on NFL player intros. We got the 404 brand, lets brand what makes us different...The Institute! If nothing else but just because 9 wins in 3 years have made us go insane.
Well, Georgia Tech currently has 7 NFL players, and 2 of them are specialists. Ohio State has 68

How about we put a decent product on the field before we start doing anything cringey. Especially in response to a decades old “tradition” by a program we don’t even have any beef or history with, and aren’t competing with in any way.

I do think some “Institute” gear would be cool though. I really think both the actual institute and GTAA dropped the ball by not creating any apparel with the now defunct school logo:

I think there’s a lot you can do with this concept, and I really like it as a logo. Use the updated typeface and replace the campanile with a GT and you’ve got a really solid shirt design.

Overall, I’ve been underwhelmed with the whole experience with Adidas. Maybe they could steal the motto I saw hanging from a frat house the day of the u(sic)ga game.

Adidas continues to be a massive disappointment on all levels. In terms of marketing and branding and Fan Gear, we got the worst of the big three.
I really wanted Nike to get the contract. I saw the internal branding Nike did for Tennessee (as part of the contract, Nike rebranded the entire university to align everything under one brand identity) and it was really well done. Tech continues to suffer from a dysfunctional approach to branding and that bleeds over to swag.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from Adidas other than GT gear. It’s not generally my style. That having been said - I don’t think we got the Platinum plan from Addidas. More like bronze or copper. It’s been a crappy deal for fans. No idea how positive it’s been for GTAA.

Absolutely this. Nike wouldn't have allowed The branding dysfunction that Adidas and our AA continues to foster. Tennessee is actually the perfect template for how we should be branded and sold because their color scheme is the most similar to ours. Exchange Tennessee orange for Tech gold, and smoky mountain gray for dark navy blue as a sparingly used secondary accent/trim color.

Tech basically thinks it can be completely inconsistent and have two brands, a very dominant navy/gold brand, and a secondary gold/white brand. Our visual identity is a disaster.

Nike actually did some sample runs of merchandise around 10 years ago that were really well done, including a new wordmark that is very similar to what we have now. No doubt at all we would be in much better shape, I just look at this as one more way our AA is clueless.

The items for retail sale are not the same thing the athletes get. I have a few of the shirts from GTAA and they have a better fit (longer arms, higher armholes) and in some cases, use a different fabric. The stuff for sale in stores is not that great, IMO.

This is my beef with Adidas/GTAA on merch. The stuff worn by coaches and SAs should be available to retail customers. Period. Make it a premium line, but make it available.
I'm an Adidas customer (mostly golf togs), so I was pleased when they became our provider, but I'm not overwhelmed by the quality & fit of their retail GT items, hats excepted.

The initial adidas deal was aimed at the SA’s not so much the fans. It coverd all sports, while Nike only wanted basketball and football. I would think when it’s time to reup, the merchandise might improve. I really don’t think we’d be in a better spot with Nike. We’d basically be a small fish in a giant ocean. Think Vandy. At least with adidas, we’ve gotten freedom to market more, while Nike most likely would’ve said no.

Adidas quality is bad though, I think Nike would be better.
