Based on the weekend results in top 25, I bet we may be up to 10 or 11 on D1baseball.com

Id be surprised if we’re not Top 10. D1B has always liked our program, Fitt was in attendance for our dominant performance Saturday, and we’ve been more impressive than anybody else in the country outside of Arkansas. I’d guess #8.

Their new rankings are also already out but behind a paywall.

We should be, but I don't care where we're ranked at this point of the season. I just want to keep winning. Georgia State up next! That's all that matters.
I hear you but the reality is if you start ranked high it takes a lot to drop out of the polls. Being ranked is better than being unranked even if it makes no difference how good the team is. We need to stay ranked at all times and highly ranked as well. It will matter come Super Regional selection time.

How are Texas Tech, Miami, and UCLA in front of us?? I don't care about early season rankings, but that's still really stupid to have them ranked above us.

Baseball America is even worse. Have us 14. Meanwhile 4-3 UVA who just lost a road series to previously unranked UNC is #8 and 3-3 UCLA who lost a home series to San Francisco is #9.

I get that baseball polls are generally less volatile with W/Ls than other sports. But if there’s a time to be volatile it’s when a team you already knew was stacked with talent completely wrecks a ranked team on the road.

Miami I get. They’re stacked with talent and already have a road series win over UF. I’d have us over them but would’ve guessed we’d be behind them in these media polls.

Texas Tech is iffy. Their losses are all to Top 4 teams. But they also don’t have a decent win yet. That’s all projection at this point. And there’s no reason not to reward teams with good resumés.

UCLA is a joke. As is UVA. Makes me think we could beat UL next week and still not crack the Top 5 with the best resumé in the country.

THIS - when the powers that bee (see what I did there) see us highly ranked all year long, maybe for once they won't stick us in a regional as a #1 seed with another #1 seed as the #2 and a #3 seed that was the national champion 2 years prior.

Not sure about the other polls, but D1Baseball, which is my go to site, clearly states their philosophy as many complain about where their team is ranked. Early in the season it is heavily biased towards projection. As the season progresses, and teams win or lose games and show who they truly are for a given season, it slowly turns into a resume based ranking. So two weeks in, I wouldn't expect us to jump over many teams that D1Baseball may have had ahead of us based on their initial projection, despite early losses.

I know you don't represent D1Baseball, but that doesn't seem to explain Ole Miss and Arkansas vaulting Louisville in week 1. I doubt us our Louisville will be given the same credit if we win over a top opponent this weekend while Arkansas has a cupcake on their schedule.

I guess the lesson learned is to start a season in a tournament with top 10 teams. Best case you get vaulted to #1, worst case you drop a couple spots?

Or NCSU disappearing completely after losing to another Top 15 team. I actually like the way D1B generally looks at weekend series W/Ls rather than weekly records. Frustrated me when I first started following college baseball, but I appreciate the philosophy behind it now.

But in terms of early-season volatility, they seem to pick their 4 or 5 “elite teams” and are reluctant to move them too much regardless of outcomes. And they generally seem to be SEC teams. Do we think Louisville is still sitting Top 5 if they had lost a series to UCF?
