L'ville beats UCF in an unbelievable last 30 seconds. Tied at 35.

L'ville has a 3 & 4 at around the UCF 45 yd line, needing about 10 yds to be in FG range. UCF blitzes, backup DE deflects the pass, catches it and UCF has the ball inside the L'ville 45 with 25 seconds and 3 TO's..
Next play, UCF throws ball over the middle, ball ricochets off UCF receiver, L'ville catches it and returns it for a TD with 13 seconds left.

After no TO's for 59 minutes you get back to back TO's with a pick six.

Now, some on here will point out that they did have two mediocre coaches. Mediocre by Georgia standards meant still having winning records but not being in the hunt for a national championship. They got rid of those mediocre (but winning) coaches even when there was no guarantee they could upgrade.

Tech during that time perhaps made a few bad coaching hires but many of these same coaches would have had much better records at schools like Georgia or schools with more resources. Carson, Rodgers and Curry come to mind.

Has always felt like, whether on the football field, or in the hiring of coaches and ADs that all the planets have to align just right for Tech to have success.

One of our mods gave a brilliant assessment of the dysfunction at FSU but Miami is even more puzzling. Miami has had periodic strong years as a team going back to the early 60s. One would have thought that after 4 national championships with three different coaches they finally knew the formula for hiring the right guy. They certainly sit in one of the most football talent rich regions of the country so you would think they would at least have Georgia levels of “mediocre success.”

A good analysis but long time UGA and Tech fans remember Johnny Griffiths who followed Butts was a disaster. In three seasons in the early 1960s he never had a winning season and lost to Tech three years in a row. Kind of understandable as they were facing Billy Lothridge all three years but I digress. It could be argued that given the talent at his disposal Ray Goff was pretty bad as well at least he beat Tech almost every year. His problem was getting blown out by Florida every year. Donnan was a good coach but lost to Tech three years in a row so out he went. Miami and FSU have been squandering talent for years. When they joined the ACC, it was assumed that everyone else including Clemson would be playing for third place. Funny how these things turn out sometimes.

UNC and UVA has turned into a hella entertaining game. After getting down big early UVA has come back and taken the lead at halftime 28-24.

Two QB's that can really sling the ball.
Howell is 8-12, 249 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT
Armstrong is 21-27, 363 yds, 3 TD, 0 INT

Those would be impressive full game stats. Last week Howell threw for 352 yds and 3 TD's and Armstrong threw for 405 yds and 5 TD's.
