Some of our 2019 opponents have published their schedules. Here is what I've gleaned:

Non-Conf
3/26: UGA
4/2: @ Auburn
4/9: @ UGA
4/16: Auburn
4/23: UGA (SunTrust)

ACC
4/19-4/21: @ VA TECH
4/26-4/28: CLEMSON

We will play 4 Atlantic Division opponents. So far, CLEM is on schedule and WAKE is not. That leaves 3 of these 5 cross-divisional opponents as possibles on 2019 schedule:
BC*, FSU, NCST, LOU*, ND* (*do not play in 2018)

Seems like it’s been quite a few years since we’ve played at Louisville and at Boston College. I’d guess those two are on the schedule. I’ve never quite understood how they scheduled the cross divisional games (outside of Clemson being our permanent cross-division rival).

I made the mistake of "looking back" at last year's schedule. My intent was to look at the first 3 weekend series & consider what I'd like to see differently (if anything) for those early season weekends in 2019. What would be "best" for preparing for the conference schedule?

[Aside/Advice.... don't go back & look at prior year baseball schedules. Unnecessary pain]

In hindsight, the opening weekend with Minn & UConn (& Bradley) could have been really helpful to us. Minn & UConn finished in Top 20 RPI. We only managed 1-2 that weekend... again hindsight... but did not go with our regular weekend rotation (except Curry).

Weekend #2 - Dartmouth sweep. Results matched expectations.

Weekend #3 - UIC. 2-1 Tech

I'm on record... I'd like one of those weekends (preferably #2 or #3) to be against UGA. ...but that's not happening.

I like the weekend #1 mix of last year. Chance to jump on a "cold weather" school (or 3) early who may not have the quality time to prepare. Need to win, though. And this year, the rotation should be more experienced & better.

Weekends #2 & #3 I'm good with maybe a easier opponent in one of those; but would like to play a higher quality team too. ...OR get on the road for a series. Most years our first weekend away is our first ACC road series. Who knows the best formula; but need to win those early games.

Looking at last year is painful. I'd rather not and maintain a positive attitude. Just win Saturday against USCe.

I agree with the bottom line; we need to win any series. And getting cold weather / northern teams before they gel should give us the biggest RPI advantage.

WE HAVE TO WIN SOME AWAY SERIES. I don't know why our football team and baseball team have such trouble winning away. I'm not talking about all series since there is a well documented home field advantage. But last year not winning any away ACC series and the football team being 0-8 indicates it's extremely unlikely for a random event. I have no idea why, but I want it to stop. (like this Friday in football).

4/9: @ UGA
4/16: Auburn

Add UVA...
UVA opens the season in Scottsdale, AZ facing Vandy, TCU, and Cal St Fullerton. I would like it if Tech did something similar... go play (or have them come to Atlanta) some traditionally upper echelon teams out of conference. I think UVA's ACC schedule is a significant challenge... the 6 Coastal opponents plus @NCST, @ND, FSU, LOU.

Non-Conf
3/19: @ Mercer
3/26: UGA
4/2: @ Auburn
4/9: @ UGA
4/16: Auburn
4/23: UGA (SunTrust)
5/14: Mercer

ACC
3/15/3-17: UVA (2nd weekend of ACC play)
4/19-4/21: @ VA TECH
4/26-4/28: CLEMSON

Add Miami.
Ga Tech opens ACC schedule in early March at Miami.

Miami's Atlantic opponents: NCST, FSU, LOU, WF

If I did the scheduling "sodoku" correctly, Tech's Atlantic opponents will be:
BC (#172)
CLEM (#13)
LOU (#21)
ND (#102)

That's a favorable cross-divisional lineup IF ACC teams are generally same as last season. Not playing FSU (#11 RPI & defending ACC champs), NCST (#24), WF (#71)

Non-Conf
2/15: UIC (#205)
2/16: Richmond (#117)
2/17: West Virginia (#52)
2/26: Georgia St (#137)
2/27: @ Georgia St (#137)

4/2: @ Auburn (#9)
4/9: @ UGA (#10)
4/16: Auburn (#9)
4/23: UGA (#10) at SunTrust
5/14: Mercer (#141)

3/8-3/10: @ MIAMI (#65)

Can you determine which of the Atlantic opponents are home and which are away, oh great schedule Schwamii?

Educated guess based on alternating from most recent matchups:
@BC
CLEM (already scheduled for Home)
@LOU
ND at Home

I do reserve the right to be gloriously incorrect. It's a "you get what you pay for" deal. (y)

But who has a bye before us? And what will the weather be?

Only 4 top 25 teams so far from last year. To have a good RPI, we'll need to win more and win away. But I like the weaker schedule early to get our defense sorted out. I can remember years where the D got better as the year went on.

Thanks for the diversion!

Yeah, and I’ll bet every one of them is a noon first pitch too!
