Someone post a good link where he has possession. I don't see him having possession. Just because in slow motion he looks to hold onto it for a while doesn't mean possession.

Well, in real time the referees called it as a catch and fumble, and a runback of the fumble as a touchdown.

Video review decision was made based on real-time replay speed, not slow-motion replay. Soooo ... what was the clear and convincing evidence to overturn the referees’ original call???

I got to go with the Buckeyes on this one.

Are refs directed to "let fumbles play out"? Or is this a theory about how refs handle such situations?

I’ve never seen anything written, but I’ve heard in the NFL or some of the conferences guidance from the heads of officials to wait to blow the play dead, increased emphasis on targeting, etc. It changes from season to season, based on containing injuries or other factors.
I think they are holding off on blowing a play dead to see if it’s a fumble this year, partially because of instant replay. (Just going off of memory, so could be wrong)
There’s a lot of guidance and coaching on when to call holding or other penalties.

Interesting suggestion. Something certainly needs to be done in both conferences.

When you boil it all down, there were only three dominant teams this year.
And if I was a sports fan from anywhere outside the south, I wouldn’t even watch the CG. Parity is about gone in the top 10.

While you;re reorganizing things, don't forget to make all interconference games rotating (so we can abolish that yearly tiger game)

Texas and Tom Herman hire Ohio State’s QB coach as OC: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28392439

It’s kind of weird to me, because Herman is an offensive guy (and has a long track record as an OC): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Herman_(American_football)

I understand recognizing where you might need help, but this still seems weird.

Tom Herman is walking on eggshells if Texas doesn't challenge OU for the Big 12 Title in 2020 he'll be fired.
