These guys have us #28 nationally & 8th in the ACC
http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/article/15586

We aren't in the top 30 (Top 25 + 5 others) for College Baseball Central. They have 8 SEC and 5 ACC teams in the Top 25 ...... https://collegebaseballcentral.com/college-baseball-central-2018-preseason-top-25/16980/

Not that I really think it matters, these rankings always seem off for us. Either we are supposed to be good and aren't or aren't and are.

Anyone heard anything about our pitchers and their health (or lack thereof)?

No, golf will make the NCAA. Last I looked they're top 5.

LOL, I usually specify top 3 men's varsity sports of football, basketball and baseball.......... but maybe there are more GT golf fans than baseball fans? :jimlad::banghead: Another great men's sport we have is men's triathlon .... but that is only club level I think.

Golf might be Tech's only fully endowed sport.

And lacrosse. They are club level but the last few years have consistently been in the mix for the "national championship" on that level

More "preseason LOVE" for Joey Bart. At some point, the expectations get really difficult to meet. One thing I like about Bart's situation... at his position (catcher), there is almost a 'default' setting that that guy must be a leader on team. It is always nice to have your best player(s) in leadership roles. The catcher uniquely sees the game from foul territory interacting with the pitchers... & orchestrating the defense (theoretically). Not to mention his proven offensive contributions. Bart is now entering his junior year with the bone fides to matter in many ways to the team. A great catcher can carry some important intangibles that could translate to a few wins in close games. I hope Bart meets these high expectations...it'll be good for the JACKETS!!

Opening against MN. Most of the next 10 days are going to be between 0 and 20 F.

Hope it's a warm weekend in ATL to open......... a 40F day would be short sleeves for them.

D1 Baseball has us finishing fifth in Coastal and not going to NCAA's. Oh well everyone has an opinion. https://d1baseball.com/season-preview/2018-conference-previews-acc/

Actually, I don't blame them since we've so enigmatic (e.g. f'ed up) recently. We get the pitching back and they say that we have the offense and Bart to be dangerous and surprise people. They were kind enough not to focus on our defensive woes last year.

We still need to see if the pitching is indeed "back".

Oops, left of "if"!!

Anyway, the good news is that D1 has us with some impact Freshmen. Bad news is that others have a lot more and higher. https://d1baseball.com/season-preview/2018-conference-previews-acc/

Baron Radcliffe (OF) at 17 is highest.
Brant Hurter (LHP) at 21.
Oscar Serratos (RHP/3B) at 39.

So we have 3 in the top 40. Let's hope the pitchers really provide a positive impact.

One other thought is that after reading the D1 summaries for the other ACC teams, GT doesn't have a talent surplus over most of the other schools. And some (L'Ville, Miami, UVa, etc ) are loaded. Maybe that's why we've been in the middle of the pack ......
