cherry picking....the past 7 seasons....

Cherry picking, suppressing evidence, or the fallacy of incomplete evidence is the act of pointing to individual cases or data that seem to confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related cases or data that may contradict that position.

Don't know if this was posted elsewhere, but someone evaluated what were the most overrated teams from the last 5, 10, and 25 years. Spoiler: the most overrated team in both the last 5 years and last 10 years was one we're very familiar with.

I read this article and read it again trying to be objective. It is pretty much spot on for each time period. Maybe a little quibble with FSU included in the last 25 years time span because after all they did win multiple ACC championships and national championships. After a little thought this is my own ranking of teams that are overrated and/or underachieving on a pretty much regular basis. Personally, to be considered you have to just about always have top 15 or so recruiting classes. That eliminates us, Duke, Iowa State and about 80% of the power 5 conference teams. You have to typically be ranked higher in preseason and lower at the end. Confounding losses to heavy underdogs is a plus as well as head scratching bowl losses. So that said my most overrated power teams are in no particular order: Tennessee (open to argument IMHO) UGA, Nebraska, UNC, (some may disagree on this) Notre Dame, USC, and Texas. Honorable mentions to LSU, Penn State, Michigan. Clemson would have been a prime candidate but you can't reasonably say a recent national champ is "overrated" Ditto Auburn. Come to think of it that can be said for Texas as well. LSU also. For the last 20 years or so, UGA even with two conference championships is definitely an underachieving program. I just do not see how anyone can argue otherwise especially given their recruiting advantages and long string of top 10 recruiting finishes. The only possible challengers would be Texas and Notre Dame. Anyone left out?

From our Southern brothers. Hopefully Coach Cook doesn't get done dirty like this.

David Dean is a Tech grad, a player from the Bill Curry years, and he did a fine job as OC and then as HC at Valdosta State (one NCAA Div. 2 title as OC, two more as HC). Really good mind for offense. Finally got a shot at a Div. 1 program in 2016, and Ga Southern ended up being a mess last season; Dean was stuck as a "co-offensive coordinator" in Statesboro, and that's seldom a good thing. Still, good to see that Dean is now HC at West Georgia, where he was an assistant in the '90s.

Undoubtedly there will be more ugly orange than gold, because UT fans don't care what they look like; they will wear the school colors. Meanwhile too many Tech fans don't think they look good in gold, or just flat don't care. Pretty sad.
what's truly sad is that you're so judgmental about something that has no relevance on the game.

I know nobody here cares how in particular I (or anybody else, for that matter) spend my summers. But I generally take overseas tours, and this time, on my current tour of the Balkans, there are two other longtime Tech fans....two ladies; one from Atlanta and one originally from Atlanta, but now living in Clemson. First time I have ever run across any other Tech fans on my travels. Obviously, two classy ladies. We are currently in Dubrovnik.
