I thought we lost our legs in the last 4 mins which allowed ND to go on the 12-0 run. The 4th foul call on McCollum was the game changer and his frustration with the refs ended his night. Terry looked like the effects of the flu were still lingering late in the game.

We lost but this game made me start thinking CDS may be the man for the job.

I've been critical about some areas of Stoudamire's time here, but one thing I can't criticize is our guys continue to play hard for him. We are not losing because of lack of effort.

Part of me thinks we've been playing better short handed, and being without a full bench has made the healthy guys focus more. But it's obvious that games are becoming a war of attrition for us.

Getting O'Brien and Mustapha back could go a long way.

Burton ended up getting his points but there was a large chunk of the game where CDS' gameplan of doubling him was working masterfully. He looked so uncomfortable and was either blocked or outright turned the ball over. It really sucks because every metric I look at from this game makes me think we won: Shrewsberry only hit 2 3's, Tae Davis was 1-9...we did everything we needed to do to win except score in the final 5 minutes. We were stuck on 62 from 5:35 until 0:13. Terribly painful to watch the game melt away when we were the better team all evening.

From watching from Tampa on TV, I think we were one player short to get across the finish line; Mustaf, Reeves, or O’Brien. I assume DO is not an option. The teams were very evenly matched. ND is not a bad team. Probably middle of the pack ACC this year.

I didn't see the game but from the stats -we lost basically because too few subs AT ALL.Stats overall were good enough for that to be a win. otoh--Our big guy can't go 3-12 from 8 ft. in.

The defense looked very good to me but defense takes a lot of energy and our men ran out of gas before the end. The men on the bench with medical boots on would have added a few more gallons to the tank. The offense looked more crisp. I don’t know how many turnovers there was but it didn’t seem like to many, whereas we turned them over numerous times. Souree(msp?)
is a rough cut stone but he has some fire! He likely will be around another three years and I think he will be a contributor. He had a few blocks and I think a couple steals and some rebounds. His shooting and handle will get better.
I would have preferred a win but overall I saw a team hustle their buts off and come near to a win.

It's been my opinion that we are lacking ACC level talent in many areas. Yet, CDS is getting them playing good D with a lot of effort. Insiders say that CDS is coaching his @&# off in practice, regardless of some opinions he is emotionless on the sidelines.
We’re now doing more with less. Just think what doing more with more might look like.

On the effort side, I disagree with @Techster assessment that the team has been playing hard. This has been 2 games in a row with very spotty effort before that.
