Dissapointing. But glad to see George finally taking the open shots team give him. In the last few minutes why not feed Terry/ He barely touched tha ball. And, again, we miss tons of easy shots at the rim. Suuare shows promise on the defensive end. Mcollum another sub par game.

Agree with your takes except feeding Terry. Wing players not getting touches is on them, nobody else. All I can figure is maybe he was still subpar due to recovering from flu.

We shot 49%, 82% from the FT line and only had 7 turnovers. We basically played 6 players- Mutumbo only played 3 minutes. George had a good game -20 points, 6 rebounds,5 assists and no turnovers. Maybe his best game this year.

First of all you couldn’t fart 25 feet away from Burton without them calling a foul. He gets Duke calls. Nate George is a hell of a player though. If he stays and continues to improve on his shooting he could easily be one of the best PG in college basketball. Love watching him play. Ndongo can’t hit a layup. We can’t win close games like this one with him consistently missing bunnies.

This a** ref, Doug “D-bag” Shows, needs to be sent down to ref first graders. This D-bag missed travels, ridiculous inconsistencies, and the double dribble by Davis right in front of his face!!!! That dude SUCKS - can’t believe he’s a ref at this level. Wow. Awful.

Yeah, that was some reallllly bad officiating. Apparently breathing on Burton is a foul now, even when he no longer has control of the ball.

So frustrating to play so well for the first 35ish minutes and then we just choked. We missed way too many bunnies in the lane and just couldn't hit our shots in the second half. We should have been up by 10+ but poor shooting and bed refs kept them close, and then we fell apart. We also made some really dumb plays...like not being able to inbound the ball with a minute left in the game.

ACC refs really hate Baye Ndongo and I don't know why.

Souare played really well and his defense was huge. He's really improved this year.
George played the kind of game we need from him every night.
Powell is a beast.
Terry is too passive and we do not set him up well. If we screened for Terry the way ND screens for Shrewsberry he would score 30 a night.

This one was there for the taking, and we gave it away. All too familiar.

Screens apparently aren't a big part of the NBA offense. Terry is a scorer. He needs plays set up for him. He is a decent shooter and can take it into the paint. I don't know what is up with McCollum but I expected double digit scoring based on his play elsewhere. His game must not fit this offense.

I think McCollum got worn down and a bit frustrated by the rough play, getting fouls called on him but not against him. He made a few sweet shots in the first half, but 0 points in the second half. That was likely the difference in the game 🤷🏻

💯
A bit bitter over loss, but it didn’t hurt our tournament resume - we have no tournament resume. CDS and team can’t say it, but refs were inconsistent, especially the one who seemed to want to cover spread - also the one ND player that shoved Powell with his elbow to clear room for his paint shot. Powell’s toughness - which I love - seems to prevent him from selling contact.
Guys undermanned, playing MUCH better D, but I wish CDS would run action/actual plays to get Terry and Javian clean looks, and back screens, guard screens that get Baye and Souare the on the move low post catch and pop. We have too many “hope” lobs.
CDS said in post game that he sees things, and plays to be made during game - well, these players are not you; you were a very, very good player.
Reality is, these players, at this time, need a few more plays mixed in with inspiration and instruction.

Not enough guys had good games. Terry and McCollum did not look 100% to me and neither had a good game. A combined 14 points and 1-6 from three ain't going to get it done. Baye didn't have a great game either. Most of ND's threes came over top of Terry. I think we really missed Mustaf in this game. His physicality and size on defense could have really made a difference against that team

George had his best game of the season. He a Powell kept us in it but it was basically those two against ND. In ND's late run, they allowed us to get the ball into the post but our guys were missing chippies. Baye needs to learn to score facing-up.

The series he was guarding Burton and Burton was aggressively driving defenders off of him - assisting defenders to vacate the space around him - with McCollum getting no calls for that activity which culminated in McCollum holding his ground straight up for his fourth foul to me was the ball game. McCollum was obviously pissed at that point and had lost some of his edge based on frustration with the officials. CDS was also obviously irritated with McCollum after the quick 4th foul and IMHO kept him on the bench longer than he should have (again just my opinion).

McCollum had an off game, but have you been paying attention? He is averaging 15 pts/gm inn ACC play.
