  1. Things to Look Forward to in the 2nd Half of the Season

I think my favorite part about your post is that it isn't completely centered around beating UGA. Our #1 goal should be winning championships - ACC first, and then if we have a great season, national. I don't want to open a can of worms here, but who cares if we lose that game if we go on to...
  2. Time for some MidLine Action

Glad we've gotten back to running the midline. IMO this is right in Bylery's wheelhouse, since he can turn a 2-4 yd gain into a 5-7 yd gain by pushing through defenders. I'm not sure if I can see Justin running this play consistently - it's just too hard to avoid big hits running right up the...
  3. Georgia Tech (PK) @ UNC

Meh, I think we'll be okay if we don't do the stupid stuff we did last week. They'll move it up and down the field on us, so we just have to hold them to FGs instead of TDs, or even better, force TOs before they can score. What's kind of funny to me is that they have Elijah Hood at RB and are...
  4. Short Yardage Situations

We have not been as good in short yardage situations since Nesbitt left, it would seem. Back then, 4th and short was just about a guarantee, because if there wasn't a hole he would run over somebody or squirm through for 2 or 3 yards. Tevin and Vad didn't have that type of mentality, and...
  5. Be honest,

I don't get your point. Duke won 10 games last season and was picked to win the division again this season. Please explain where the shame is in this loss.
  6. CPJ vs. CGO

Lots of unfair comparisons being made here. O'Leary did beat UGA more, but he also never won the conference. PJ has won the conference but lost more to UGA. PJ has, for the most part, played in a stronger ACC (outside of FSU), but he has also played a few more cupcake teams with the recent...
  7. Deshaun Watson

He's one of those players that has poise far beyond his years. I was at the Clemson-UNC game and was constantly stunned at how well he could see the field and make smart decisions. I will say, though. His biggest strength so far has been throwing downfield. Our bend-but-don't-break defense...
  8. A big shout-out to Mike Sewak

I'm not sure what to think about Sewak. Honestly, I just think this is the most talented OL we've had, which explains why they're able to physically move Miami and VT DL's that they haven't in the past. We've drastically cut down on false starts, though, so somebody deserves credit for that...
  9. Monday practice update

I know it wasn't the same play, I'm just pointing out that if QB's get comfortable with having a lot of space underneath, you can jump those routes and force turnovers. As we've seen recently, we are far more successful at forcing turnovers than we are at straight up stopping an opponent, so it...
  10. Monday practice update

I see your point, but that same scheme got us a game-sealing INT against VT when we baited the QB into thinking we were giving a ton of space and then DJ White jumped in for the pick. I'm more worried about our DB's ability to tackle in space than anything. If we can prevent 6-8 yard passes...
  11. Monday practice update

Nobody has made us pay for that so far this season - not even close. In fact, the only team that did put up a lot of points on us (Georgia Southern) mostly did it by beating us deep when our DB's failed to make a play on the ball. As much as I'd love to see a more aggressive style, what we're...
  12. Wondering if anyone saw this?

Galloway may have been joking, but Walt Deptula, a well-respected local radio host in Upstate SC, is firmly on the GT bandwagon. I was listening yesterday and he said GT will beat UGA and FSU and win the ACC title. Clemson fans were calling in all day after that, starting to get worried about...
  13. Denzel Perryman on GT O

The comments in the OP look a lot worse taken out of context. He's clearly aware of our new threats (mentioned how good JT is) and acknowledged that if they don't play disciplined they will lose. IMO he's right. We've put up a ton of points on them lately, and I think we'll do it again this...
  14. Could Georgia Southern Compete In The ACC?

How do you figure? They almost beat us, and we are better than most of our opponents (I think). Not to mention they should have beaten NC State as well. I think GSU would win 2 or 3 ACC games, depending on their schedule. That offense is really good.
  15. I love these Vines!

I was wondering the same thing. If Nealy didn't get it, Marcordes probably would have tipped and picked it.
  16. What would your VT game plan be?

Do you not remember the 1923 false starts we had last year when we tried that against VT? It worked to draw them offsides, but it screwed us up just as bad.
  17. Pass Interference Question

Neither was PI IMO. DJ was stride for stride with his man and the guy got in his way so he used his arm to balance himself. I don't think it was illegal, nor was the pass catchable, so it was a poor call.
  18. New Depth Chart

Interesting. Looks like Freeman and Chungong overtook Stargel. Can't say I'm disappointed. I like Stargel but he has not generated any sort of pass rush at all.
  19. VT Defense

IMO our best chance is to score on a couple explosive plays. I think it will be very difficult to sustain long drives, so we need to turn those 20-30 yard plays into the 60-70 yard TD's that we were scoring in 2008 and 2009. If we can do that, I like our chances. Otherwise, I look for a...
  20. QB Play

I agree, although it may not happen this year. We'll see.
