CPJ actively recruited the best returning players of the Gailey era and they stayed. Collins and Co are supposed to be exponentially better recruiters. Seems to me for any new coach, recruiting starts at home with your returning star players.

Unfortunately, most of the guys who write the checks will be turned off and won’t be there. From a recruiting perspective, it sounds good. Recruiting SA’s that is, not high rollers.

If a player is “in the portal,” are they free to go anywhere and play immediately?

In my day, the fraternities had blocks in the lower east from roughly the 30 to the end zone. In addition to that there was the flash card section at midfield. Funny how those areas were never empty on game day.
