I'd like to add that I can't recall going to any other college football game that didn't include Tennessee or GT unless a friend took me to a Memphis Tigers game in the 90s. That would make this year's planned FSU vs CU game the first non Vol/Jacket game I will have attended in person.

It's not unknown. He's stated many many times that he wears a distibctly different color from the players when he's on the sideline so that he is easy to spot by the players and officials. Coaches at other schools do the same thing.
He was the voice of my childhood. So many games muted so I could listen to him call them. He's calling games in heaven now. "Give him six!" , "It's football time in Tennessee!" , "Bottom" , " It's Goooda" all will be a part of my memory forever.
