Yeah it's pretty impressive looking at them. Only 17 losing seasons ever, and 7 of them came before 1914. So only 10 losing seasons in the last century. Meanwhile we have 10 since 1999 :cry:
Yeah I don't consider them either. I see them as really strong programs in recent history that people commonly know about because of success in the last 30 years or so but they lack the long history that's usually tied to a blue blood. I'd consider the football blue bloods to be teams like Ohio...
lots of history, accolades, titles. The kind of schools random people know are good at the sport. I look at it like football too where theres blue bloods and new bloods. Teams like UConn and Louisville are like the basketball versions of FSU/UF/Miami success to me
We pulled off the same thing last year right? Unfortunately lost to them 4-3 in the acc tournament rematch last year. Hopefully we can go 2/2 this time
You have to remember too that at that time bowl games wouldn’t have factored into the decision because they were still considered exhibitions. The final polls would have come out before then.
I imagine there were plenty of voters back then that barely watched any games due to accessibility. I also believe that most of the AP was concentrated in the northeast and Midwest at the time so voting was definitely biased in those regions. May have still been a little early for this one but I...
I’m not too surprised the tournament is full of upsets though. We had what 3 weeks this season where half the top 10 lost? Seemed like a pretty chaotic season as a whole
