  1. Military Bowl: Pitt vs Navy

Yeah, you missed the point entirely. The system isn't terribly complicated, but execution must be precise. That takes time. The larger issue, I think, is that the world we live in means we recruit mostly three star players. Those guys can compete, but they usually aren't physically ready...
  2. Military Bowl: Pitt vs Navy

Quick Google search showed they started 7 seniors and three juniors in 2014. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/navy/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2014-15/depth_chart_non_event/2014-Navy-FB-Depth.pdf In 2013 they started 3 seniors and 5 juniors...
  3. Military Bowl: Pitt vs Navy

Every single starter on Navy's offense was a senior, except for one receiver, who is a junior. Just spitballin' here, but may - just maybe! - that had something to do with their success.
  4. School Recruiting rankings

Probably wouldn't hurt if we could develop a reputation as a school that produces excellent "X." Think VT with DBs or Missouri with DL or Baylor with WR, or as much as I hate to say it, UGA with RBs lately. They all seem to consistently have players at those positions that seem to affect...
  5. School Recruiting rankings

I don't think it's unreasonable to have some concern about the recruiting for this year. I think we can live in the 40s and be competitive, but if we're in the 80s it will be a problem later down the line. Further, this would mark the second class rated that poorly in the last four. That's...
  6. Realistic expectations for 2016?

I think 2014 we leaned lucky, but we weren't crazily so. 2015 was crazily unlucky. It seems strange to want to put a prediction out so early, so I'll refrain. I will say my expectation for the offense is that it will be significantly better. I don't know that it'll be 2014 good, but it's...
  7. Charles Kelly potential new DC at Auburn

Funny how coaches become better when they end up at schools that recruit better. The defense improved some during the back half of 2012, but it was still shredded by BYU and UGA. FSU's defense is gonna be insane next year.
  8. Biggest need for 2016 (offense edition)

All I will say is that this thread will have more agreement in it than any other in history, provided there isn't one already in existence called "uga sucks." But, yeah, I'd be good with one of the receivers becoming a true number one.
  9. ACC Coaches set

    19-23 against major conference schools.
  10. Johnson

Don't the kids get any say in what they want to major in?
  11. I know posts like this are heretical around here

Big difference between blaming the defense for the loss (he didn't) and saying it needs to improve (it does). Frankly, I'm shocked anyone objects to a word he said. Most of us have griped about the defense - I know I sure as hell have - and now he's saying we need to raise our expectations...
  12. New Offense?

Agreed. This is how you internet.
  13. The "missed assignments" issue

There's no such thing as clutch. Smelter was good all the time.
  14. So, who starts next year...

Let's hope so. We need to even out the classes, though.
  15. Is it Possible

Sure you can. Do you need a Venn Diagram?
  16. The "missed assignments" issue

Well now you're just talking sense. This is the internet, goddamnit!
  17. The "missed assignments" issue

    Oh? Elaborate, please.
  18. New Offense?

The issue with this is that it leaves off a critical part of the analysis. In order to measure our performance in 2:00 situations, you must also know what everyone else does in the same situation. Are they more successful? Less? Maybe because we play fewer possessions, we find ourselves in...
  19. Johnson

I think most people would agree with this, but what if the kid wants to major in American History, or British Lit, or English, or Physical Education, and be a teacher/coach? Or, more importantly, what if they just don't know? That, to me, has always been the larger barrier.
  20. S&C program 2014 vs 2015

I think I agree with this, but it's worth pointing out that some coaches abuse their players. Derrick Henry carried 46 times last week against Auburn. Even if there isn't incremental risk because he ran 46 times (which I would probably disagree with, but I don't have data, so...), he is...
