Sure academics are apart of our challenge. We just lost a lb out of Cordele due to this. We usually lose 1 or 2 every year in this manner. The fact still remains that if we are signing 0% of those qualified it’s really silly blaming our issues on academics.
Thanks for the response. A couple of thoughts. For one I don't set my expectations for GT based off anything UGA does. Any comparison with them is apples to oranges on many levels.
As far as academic exceptions go I believe you are correct in GT is not taking as many as they used to. The...
Do you have any data supporting your claim that this is a significant hindrance to GT? Everything I have seen has shown GT is near the top of the conference annually in terms of APR. If that is the case I fail to understand the significance some people on here place on APR. Believe me, I'm not...
Good deal. I feel the same about many of the excuses I hear on a consistent basis from many on this board in particular. Quit buying into nonsense about the program we both claim to support and I won't have to refute it.
Not at all. This post was addressing the issue of how much a limited curriculum affects our recruiting efforts. My point is that this challenge is not something that has changed over time unlike the money issue you are correctly identifying.
A ton of group think in this post that is simply not supported by fact. To start with the curriculum angle is overplayed as a reason for our recruiting struggles. Past coaches such as O’Leary overcame them with the almost the exact same curriculum challenge. We know by his success that this can...
I’ve made this exact same argument. Unfortunately it doesn’t go very far with people in this board. They swear that less than a quarter of D1 football players could qualify at GT. They do this without any evidence to support their assertion.
Sure. When you said some are arguing that if we don’t outrecruit Clemson then we are settling for mediocrity. I have never seen that argument on here and I know I certainly haven’t made it.
I’ll attach a link explaining the straw man fallacy below because I notice you are struggling with the...
I try not to draw straw men. If I fail I apologize. Facts are something I try to bring to all discussions. I’m glad you recognize the straw man whiskey is drawing up now though my friend.
You are exactly right. It used to be the ones who thought the program could do better than Johnson were seen as negative by the majority on this board. Now the perception has changed and those that think Johnson was as good as we can do are seen as negative. Which is what they have always been...
Just tell me where I’m wrong. Our record for 15-17 was 17-19. Johnson was asked about the downturn over these years specifically and responded with “we are a 6 win program.” He was very condescending of the program and basically said there was not a downturn during this time which is crap...
We are not a 6 win program in modern college football with a 12 game regular season. We are an 8 win program. Not sugar coating things would have been to acknowledge his programs shortcomings in 15,16 & 17. He didn't do that. Instead he chose to devalue our programs average win total by 25%...
His comment was in response to a reporter asking him about the downturn in the program since 14. Instead of acknowledging the fact that the results were not what any of us had hoped and move on, he chose to inform us that GT is historically a 6 win program. This was extremely self serving and...
